Here’s my take as a 32 year airline pilot: The female on the radio was not the flying pilot, she was the first officer (copilot) because the person working the radio when the airplane was in cruise and looking for a different altitude was the same one making the call during the emergency. The non-flying pilot is the one that works the radios. the flying pilot is the one at the controls. Though I don’t know for sure she also sounded like she was fairly inexperienced, but I’m not sure if that played any role in the accident at all. She complained about moderate turbulence plus or minus 700 feet and that tells me that they were either in severe turbulence, (not moderate) though they said it was moderate, or they were in a “wave”. Waves aren’t that big a deal usually She also complained that they were picking up precipitation at 30+ thousand feet which is strange. Then suddenly they were in a 10,000 foot per minute descent. Which further accelerated to 20,000 ft./min. decent. It ended up in a spiral dive. So, with all that, my theories are that: they picked up asymmetric ice, which caused the airplane to enter into a spiral dive. (Not likely) Or they got into severe turbulence suddenly and had a structural failure, whereby the horizontal stab may have malfunctioned or even broken off, which would’ve put them in a nose down uncontrollable dive. There is a possibility that they also got a tail stall as a result of ice accumulation on the tail, which could’ve put them into a dive situation as well. It is very strange to be over 36,000 feet, plus -700 gains and altitude and picking up precipitation all at the same time. She said it was -47 was the outside to air temperature which is strange to be picking up precipitation, but then again it is Florida so who knows it could be warm enough up there that they got precipitation. But my bet is structural failure Very very sad. Heart wrenching. As a pilot it’s hard to listen to.Breaking911 @Breaking911“Holy f*ck, we’re out of time” Heart crushing ATC audio captures the moments before a Learjet 60 crashed in Palm Beach County, Florida, killing all 9 souls on board. It looks like flying into a storm caused the Lear Jet crash. Sorry ladies, but tracking weather and avoiding it is the job of the co-pilot.2451822.8K53.5K
Hey @grok how is this even possible and had any such airplane crash happened in history?194862.1K1.6M
@FurkanGozukaraThe track shows N722BD in an uncontrolled high-speed dive exceeding 30,000 fpm. That rate is possible once the nose is pointed steeply down: gravity plus residual thrust accelerate the jet rapidly, especially at altitude where drag is lower. Recovery becomes impossible if pitch control is lost (trim runaway, elevator failure, severe turbulence/icing, or pilot input). Yes, it has happened before. China Eastern 5735 (2022) reached >32,000 fpm. SilkAir 185 and Sriwijaya 182 produced similar extreme rates. NTSB is investigating this one; cause still unknown.5140789222K
LIVE RADAR: I just got a message from a follower that told me she had her Jetblue flight from Atlanta to Fort Lauderdale diverted due to this mess over Southern Florida. The pilot tried, doing several circles over the Everglades, but no luck. She also experienced severe turbulence, with people throwing up on the plane. These storms are no joke, from above (and on the ground). Multiple flash flood warnings are in effect.1887985.3K1.6M

@nypost@nypost @zerohedge You have to be 21 to rent a car in most US states, but you can pilot a Learjet? This is so sad.165392.6K188K

Learjet N722BD's final flight, recreated using our models in a 3D simulation with its flight track and the real air traffic control audio. Miami Center warned the crew the turn to Freeport looked "pretty bad." Moderate to extreme precipitation, 25 miles out, a storm about 100 miles across. Controllers cleared them to deviate left or right. The pilot answered "Roger, we'll look at it" and stayed direct Freeport. Then she reported ice and moderate turbulence. Then the mayday. Descending 10,000 feet per minute. Overspeed. Descending 20,000 feet per minute. Banking 60 degrees. "We're going to crash into the ground." The controller's answer: "I'm here with you. Talk to me." The jet fell from about 37,300 feet to 325 feet over Greenacres, Florida in roughly 75 seconds...1147504.6K1.4M
