Different RDs won’t prevent an #MPLS #L3VPN route leak. If VRF RED imports an RT exported by BLUE, BLUE’s VPNv4 routes become eligible for import into RED. Check the route’s RT extended communities, then show ip route vrf RED to see what actually made it into the routing table.

Two ISPs, two edge routers, one AS. The topology is ready. Configure eBGP, iBGP, VRRP and routing policies yourself, then verify the results on Arista EOS CLI. A look inside our Enterprise BGP Routing lab. No local setup required. #NetworkEngineering

For inbound traffic engineering, would you rely on AS_PATH prepending or use ISP BGP communities? Explore the lab:

How do you handle upstream brownouts on a dual-ISP BGP setup? ISP-A keeps advertising a default route, but some destinations are unreachable upstream. Local preference still favors ISP-A. What do you use to trigger failover without unnecessary route flaps? #BGP #Networking

Port-channel is up. VLAN 10 works. VLAN 20 doesn’t. Everything was working before a switch config change. What’s the first thing you’d check? And if you’ve seen this in production, what was the actual cause? #NetworkEngineering #Networking #Datacenter

#EVPN sessions are up. VTEPs are reachable. Small pings work, but larger packets fail across VXLAN. Before changing #BGP or VNI settings, check the underlay MTU and test with DF set. #VXLAN adds ~50 bytes over IPv4. How do you test path MTU in your network? #Networkengineer

#EVPN sessions are up. But did rd auto generate the RD you expected? On Arista MLAG peers, the VTEP IP is shared, but the auto-generated RD depends on the BGP router ID. Check the actual RD on both leaves: show bgp evpn instance Ever run into this? #Arista #Networking

LACP on the access side. BGP ECMP on the uplinks. Same topology, two different forwarding decisions. maximum-paths 2 ecmp 2 doesn't mean both next hops are installed. Check the #BGP paths, then the routing table. Configuration alone isn't verification. #Networking

Question for Network Engineer Two ECMP next hops are installed in the FIB. You run iperf3 -P 16 between the same two hosts, but almost all traffic uses one uplink. Both links are healthy. What would you check first? #Networking #Networkengineer

show ip route shows two equal-cost next hops, but one uplink is doing most of the work. #ECMP uses flow-based hashing, so a few heavy flows can skew utilization. Equal paths don’t always mean equal traffic. Want to practice ECMP on #Arista EOS? Free lab:
