"You keep searching for the perfect tutorial..."
Me: opens 47th "Ultimate React Guide"
Narrator: He was, in fact, the problem 😂
Stop tutorial hell. Start building broken stuff.

On dit qu’il faut maîtriser les bases dans un langage, ma question comment sait on qu’on a les bases, ou alors avez vous des liens pour tester ses bases et quand est ce qu’on sait qu’on les a ou maitrise ?

well, my #100DaysOfCode got thrown for a loop with the job offer I received! I just want to share some resources I've used during my learning up to this point, and hope it helps some other poor #webdev stuck in #tutorialhell.. see threadbelow.
I've been struggling through #programming bootcamps and online courses for the past two years, but now since I stopped doing courses and started building projects, I finally feel like I really learn how to code.
Don't waste your time in #tutorialhell
3 years ago, I started self-teaching data science. Working through a soul-sucking job in construction, I hustled at night to build my next career move.
Next week, I start as Data Science Intern with my dream company @shopify 🚀
Here’s how I did it (a thread)
I then took a few low-cost MOOCs on @Coursera and @Udemy to learn the basics of python which also introduced me to data-sciency things like pandas, web scraping, and Jupyter notebooks. Best course was by Jose Portilla
It’s super important to not get stuck in #tutorialhell at this point. It happens to most beginners. From my own research, almost everyone who succeeds in the self-taught path does so because they get out of this phase before losing interest.
How? Project-driven learning
Time is the most valuable commodity we have. Spend it with more care than you spend money. You can always make more money, you can’t create more time.

Beware of #tutorialhell, as a software developer. This is a situation where you learn so much from tutorial videos that you can't do anything outside the videos. Beware!
👋🏻 Stuck in Tutorial hell? Not feeling confident about building something with your tech stack?
😔 I've been there too.
I will be discussing why you should opt for project-based learning and build the confidence you need to level up your development.💡🚀
A Thread.🧵👇
4/9 💻 By working on projects, you'll also get a sense of the entire development process, from planning to deployment. This broadens your perspective and helps you understand the bigger picture. #FullStackLearning
5/9 💻 On the other hand, getting stuck in #TutorialHell can be detrimental to your learning. Following tutorials can lead to a lack of confidence, as you're not actively engaged in the learning process. #PassiveLearning
A quick demo I made today to try to avoid entering #tutorialhell. Confused in #godot about when to use move_and_slide vs move_and_collide. Pretty pleased with the gun rotation today, might think differently tomorrow #gamedev#IndieGameDev#100daysofgameDev day 9 #pixelart
I keep seeing people do several rounds of #100DaysOfCode which is great! But also dangerous. You need to fail to understand what you don't know. Get out there, start that project and fall at the first hurdle because you CAN get over it. Don't get stuck in #tutorialhell
Are you stuck in the process of learning a lot of things continuously through tutorials?
And not building anything with what you've learnt?
It's called #tutorialhell and this is what you can do👇
Starting #100DaysofCode today! Been taking two Udemy courses over the past few months but finally need to break out of #tutorialhell and build some things. Thanks for the push, @anthonyongaro!
