What if I told you there wasn’t just one tape that brought Donald Sterling down, but hundreds of them? And we have some you’ve never heard before in this five-part @30for30 podcast that drops Tuesday! You can listen to the trailer and subscribe now at
I’m not always a big-word-using kind of writer. But hard to pass up a chance to use Spelling Bee favorite (ask @minakimes ) “Syzygy” in a story about one of the most epic sports (and solar) eclipses in our lifetimes. Josh Kushner and Bob Iger’s record-breaking $12.5 billion purchase of the Los Angeles Lakers from Mark Walter.
RT @joseph_dycus: “It's better than, you know, having it at the YMCA that night in front of 75 people.”
Warriors coach Steve Kerr on Valkyries-Dream game 6 in Atlanta being at 9:30am on Thursday.
RT @krisrhim1: A representative from Jaylen Brown’s team told ESPN that reports that he demanded a trade or presented the Celtics with a list of demands are “10000% a lie.”
Brown never requested a trade to Milwaukee, the representative said. After the deal fell through and Boston informed him he’d be traded, his only request was to have input on his destination.

To clarify: There is a resolve to make sure any potential championship that is won Thursday afternoon is celebrated on the court.

Ramona Shelburne on what could happen if the WNBA title is won on Thursday:
"That celebration may not actually be on that court. I've heard there are discussions about whether there's enough time to turn the arena over in time for the fans to celebrate on the court. It could be moved to a practice court"
Unreal man smh

For those asking why the WNBA Finals game is at 12:30 while the NBA regular season game is at 8….Both the Cavs and Hawks play in other cities the night before. The doubleheader matinee and Friday/Tuesday options ended up being the best of the bad options here. Moving Hawks-Cavs to Friday also created terrible back-to-backs for both teams.

After a weekend of nonstop frantic discussions and negotiation, Game 6 of the WNBA Finals will be played Thursday at 12:30 pm at 17,000-seat State Farm Arena in Atlanta, sources told ESPN.
The Atlanta Hawks-Cleveland Cavaliers game that night will move back to 8 pm to accommodate the doubleheader, just as the Hawks did for Game 4. This allows a potential Game 7 to remain scheduled for Halloween at Chase Center in San Francisco.
All three Finals games in Atlanta have required hurried adjustments to the schedule at State Farm Arena. It took collective efforts from the WNBA, NBA, the Hawks, State Farm Arena, Dream, Valkyries and broadcast partners to figure out the best course of action again.
By moving the game earlier in the day, the WNBA avoided a scenario where a potential championship game was played inside the Dream’s home arena, the 3,500 seat Gateway Center.
The other option under strong consideration was moving Game 6 to an open date at State Farm Arena on Friday and Game 7 to an open date at Chase Center on Tuesday, November 3.

Had these requests been made a few weeks ago… or even a week ago, sounds like more could’ve been done. The issues with the Friday/Tuesday construction were 3 days between Games 5/6 AND 6/7, plus concerns about playing on Election Night and logistical issues of moving two Finals games.
RT @kendra__andrews: Jordin Canada and Allisha Gray looked visibly excited with @alexaphilippou informed them Game 6 would be at Stare Farm — grinning at one another on the media zoom call.
Canada: “Super excited that it will be at State Farm. The crowd has showed up and showed out for Games 3 and 4 so looking forward to being at State Farm for Game 6.”

“This should've been solved weeks ago, and definitely at the same time Games 3 and 4 were solved," one source said.
Said another: "The fact we are making these decisions so we can play a WNBA game at a larger arena is the best news of all. ... It just has to be scheduled better in advance. Moving games is much harder now than it would have been a week ago."

I’ve heard from several NBA executives about this situation today. The general sentiment is that NBA games can be moved, but it’s extremely difficult two days in advance. There’s employees to schedule, tickets to sell, travel and player health to consider. A few weeks ago, it would have been a lot easier to move a game to Cleveland or from Thursday to Friday (creating back-to-backs for both teams). But last minute is very challenging.
The two leading options of the not so great options are a matinee at State Farm Arena for Game 6 on Thursday in Atlanta or shifting Game 6 to Friday and Game 7 to Tuesday. Thus far the league doesn’t love the idea of a weekday matinee for a Finals game. Others don’t love the idea of 3 days between Games 5/6 AND 6/7.
