Tuning #PLSQL using dbms_hprof and flamegraphs is fun!
While optimizing a merge operation I found a spike caused by a before row insert trigger that used a non cached sequence. Wouldn't have noticed this otherwise.

📝 I wrote a blog post on how to use a Maps like in-memory data store in #oracle#plsql. They are called Associative Arrays and are super handy!

UC AI v26.5 adds new ways to use AI in your Oracle database: decisions with probabilities, and A2A support so other systems can call your agents.
The APEX Chat plug-in now supports cards, tables, charts, and custom widgets.

It's a wrap. Biggest UC AI release ever. Small and big improvements. I will do more learning material about it in the next weeks. BTW: free + open source.

SQL Assertions are faster than #plsql triggers because context switching is avoided.
Of course, declarative assertions are also a huge advantage over custom coded procedural triggers 👍
The @Trivadis#PLSQL & #SQL Coding Guidelines Version 3.3 are now available as GitHub Pages and PDF.
It's just a conversion from Word to Markdown. No new content in this version. But much better (re)usability. #OpenSource
A follow up to the post yesterday on why PLSQL rocks. I made the benchmark more realistic...which means that..um...er...well.... PLSQL rocks even more! 😀

Monday's Tip for Oracle APEX:
Are you still using "execute immediate" or the dbms_sql package do run dynamic SQL statements?
Not that these options are bad, but if you are building APEX applications, there is a better one

Are you interested in the origins of #PLSQL? If so, hear about it from the original team members in my post, A (Not So) Brief But (Very) Accurate History of PL/SQL -
Fresh post! Put aside the fear mongering about database resident code and focus on the evidence. And the evidence is clear - if you want faster, more scalable applications, just a little bit of PL/SQL might make all the difference. #database#sql#plsql
