‼️ Over 60,000 Attacks Target WordPress RCE Vulnerability Within 24 Hours Details: Hackers are targeting a WordPress Core remote code execution vulnerability that can expose websites during software updates. The supplied Wordfence threat intelligence snapshot lists 60,471 blocked attempts over 24 hours. WordPress released version 7.1.4 on October 28, 2026, addressing 22 security vulnerabilities. The update closes the code execution weakness alongside stored cross-site scripting, information disclosure, and permission issues. These are attack attempts, not confirmed website compromises, and the figure does not establish how many individual sites were targeted. #CybersecurityNews

Would you still start a new WordPress site on a page builder? We moved fooplugins .com off Elementor in June, and built our own FSE theme with custom blocks using codex. It's been way faster since, and we're not going back!

Last week: a 14-year-old flaw in the code behind 69% of websites. Now: the US government confirms attackers are using it. PHP2Shell is a pair of bugs in PHP, the language behind WordPress sites, online shops and government portals. What changed: • Oct 21: PHP ships fixes. CISA says no attacks seen yet • Oct 26: CISA adds both bugs to its list of actively exploited flaws • Oct 29: deadline for US federal agencies to patch or take affected systems offline What we know: • Both rated 9.2 out of 10 • No login needed: an attacker can run code on an unpatched server • Amazon logged the first attempt on Oct 17, four days before the fix • Millions of exploit attempts logged since The real risk now: there's nothing to install on your phone or laptop. The fix has to happen on the servers. The risk for you is that a site you use gets breached and your email and password leak with it. How many sites were actually broken into isn't known yet. Some early claims were retracted. If you reuse one password across sites: change it on your email first, then turn on 2FA.

A Typescript version of @WordPress plugins? All of core someday? Interesting... 🤓 What should we call it? ?

update: it works? cli builds a TypeScript project into a couple custom WordPress plugins in PHP and works on any host (on recent PHP/ WP version) in theory can be used to two way sync with any Git repo, though I am focused on TS source -> PHP for WordPress and it can run on the browser so you can edit source code in wp-admin, save and rebuild the entire thing (and one day sync to Git) modern and declarative cms frameworks that work great with agents, i see you - great ideas. we can do better. oh also - it includes a little side project (of a side project) that hooks in Automattic’s ai-agent package. Build agents with TypeScript and hook into any WordPress (and WooCommerce!) site with access to your site’s context. blog post incoming with source code. first I gotta make this work with Spacefast’s blog so i can start dogfooding - i think i just built a whole new cms while procrastinating on (another) blog post. i just built my own subset of TypeScript with Rust that compiles to WordPress by just designing the architecture, public API and UX/DX/AX i am a good engineer/hacker but honestly no way i could build something like pre last few gens of frontier models
