Space science is too complex for any one country to tackle alone. As a new era of space exploration unfolds, we need more than just advanced technology. Global cooperation and free knowledge exchange - regardless of geopolitical divisions - will be key.

What counts as progress? There’s growing consensus that #GDP alone can’t capture it. The UN’s #BeyondGDP push reflects a wider call for metrics that look at wellbeing more holistically. Our paper explores how the HDI can evolve to meet that challenge:

The ISC is proud to play a convening role in connecting scientific expertise with global science-policy processes. We’re delighted that Prof. Dr. Chioma Daisy Onyige has been selected as #IPCC AR7 Lead Author (WGIII Ch.4) following an ISC nomination.

ISC is proud to bring science to the UN's top forum for reviewing #SDG progress - #HLPF. Our President-elect @RHDijkgraaf & Marcia Barbosa of @ufrgsnoticias called for investment in science that’s co-created with communities + connected to policy. More:

Science has a seat at the table at #HLPF2025 👏 Join us in person or remotely at the UN High-level Political Forum to champion the essential role of science in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. ✅ Programme, live broadcasts and more:

Can science still shift the #SDG trajectory? Yes - but only if it’s connected to decision-making, grounded in equity, and reflective of the need of communities. Read our 17 concise and transferable case studies of science & engineering in action: @WFEO

On 30 June, the ISC is co-hosting a side event at the 4th International Conference on Financing for Development (#FfD4). The event will address the urgent need to close the global financing gap around STI. Learn more ⤵️

Today, 24 June, marks the International Day for #WomenInDiplomacy. Greater inclusion of women in diplomacy isn't just progress, it strengthens how the world engages, negotiates and solves problems. Read about #ScienceDiplomacy at the ISC⤵️

RT @SciDevNet: The global science community must make its voice heard and shape responses to our #ocean crisis, write scientists from @ISC.

💬 “We need to rethink our role as scientists - not only to contribute knowledge and ideas, but as active participants in change.” In this op-ed published in @SciDevNet, the ISC #Ocean Expert Group reflects on what kind of science the ocean crisis demands.

🌊 60% of marine ecosystems are degraded. At #UNOC3, ISC’s side event made the case for transdisciplinary, inclusive ocean research—amplifying marginalized voices and Indigenous knowledge.

🎥 At the #UNOC3 SDG Media Zone, #ocean experts @PeterMHaugan and @ellyciak unpacked the scientific unknowns and governance gaps surrounding emerging ocean interventions like deep-sea mining and marine carbon removal. Watch the replay ⬇️
