the bug: during a TCP handshake, IPv4 options get handed to the new socket without being copied. a retransmitted SYN on another CPU can still be reading them when the socket is freed. classic race → use-after-free in ip_options_build() #LinuxKernel

the fix is tiny: kfree() → kfree_rcu() in two places. readers were already using RCU. the destructor just wasn't waiting for the grace period. the bug dates back to a lock-free change that's been in kernels since 4.4. #LinuxKernel
