#actionscript

Happy 19th birthday to #ActionScript 2.0! #AS2 was a scripting language suited for the development of #Flash games & applications. #AS2 was introduced in Macromedia Flash MX 2004 which was released on September 10th, 2003.

"Yo, why are #JavaScript and its ecosystem so messy?!" 😡 Well, I am glad you asked... Let me tell you a story! 🤓 🧵👇

@BrendanEich @pelger In 1997 something cool happened: the #EcmaScript standard (Ecma-262) was published: This was the first standard specification for a scripting language that all browser vendors could conform to! A bit of a peace treaty in the ongoing browser's war! ⚔️

@BrendanEich @pelger If you have ever been confused by #EcmaScript vs #JavaScript: - EcmaScript is a blueprint for a language - JavaScript is an implementation of that blueprint (btw, another one was #ActionScript for Flash)

Version 15.0.0 released. Direct editing Actionscript 1/2 is no longer marked as experimental. We fixed many related bugs and we think it is pretty usable now. AS3 is still not working well... #as1 #as2 #actionscript #flash #editor

Goodbye my friend #Flash. In 2001 I learned #ActionScript with Macromedia Flash. Once I even had a website built completely with Flash. Flash was also one of the reasons why I started with #WPF, because I liked many concepts I knew from Flash, like timelines & animations.

My husband wants to chuck these AS3.0 books. I just can’t....I started my career as a Flash Developer. #actionScript #flashIsDead
