I built 𝚌𝚙𝚞-𝚌𝚑𝚊𝚝, a reproduction of @openai's findings of covert communication using the CPU. It runs on a generic host with 2+ Firecracker microVMs with no internet access. Works on x86 and even my M5 chip. I was able to chat via 3 separate mechanisms: ① CPU contention ② Cache eviction timing ③ DRAM bandwidth contention … across multiple CPUs, defeating all Firecracker's production recommendations (no SMT, no KSM, tenants pinned to different cores.) Essentially, if shared hardware is involved, there's a good chance your agents can communicate covertly. And with really decent latency. The good news: this is decidedly different from a *side-channel attack* where the agents could steal information (Meltdown/Spectre), a category of attack that providers like Vercel Sandbox mitigate. Further, in our real-world environment, these 'whispering' techniques are much harder to pull off and easier for us to monitor and detect (sampling hardware counters + lots of at-scale statistical data.) Noteworthy: ironically, OpenAI and Anthropic's models refused to do this work. Open weight models got the job done. I'm worried the labs' stance might backfire and get in the way of helping developers build correct and secure systems. e.g: building a secure sandbox requires having this kind of analysis, and without it, we'll have a less secure world.2702502.7K236K

I can’t get any hired dev to be significantly productive with AI, compared to what I can do myself or other founders who code their own products. The difference is maybe 10-100x between founders coding with ai and hired developers coding with ai406321.2K89.6K
Building with the Agents API? Here's what we shipped this week for you:Steve ☕️ @stevendcoffey🗣️ The Agents API team has a shipping problem – we literally cannot stop. Here’s what we cooked up for you beautiful people this week: 💂 Auto Review: Just like in codex, auto-review will evaluate commands for potential bad behavior before executing. 🗜️ Async Compaction: Speed up your sessions by allowing compaction to happen in the background. 🕐 Time awareness: An experimental feature that allows the model to have a sense of time passing. This means the model will better act on queries like, ”timebox CI fixes to 10 minutes.” 🔨 Tool Updates: You can now update a session’s tools at any time. 💰 Better prompt-cache awareness: System prompts are now automatically cached across all sessions, saving you money and time741745867.4K

Supabase has become one of the default backends for the AI coding era. The open source Postgres platform now has 13 million users, spins up more than a million databases every week, and roughly 70% of its new activity is coming from agents. As coding shifts from developers writing software by hand to agents building on their behalf, Supabase has been rebuilding itself around that new user. Supabase co-founder and CEO Paul Copplestone joins Garry, Harj, and Jared on the Lightcone to talk about what happens when everyone can become a builder. They dive into why personal software may become as common as personal documents, how to design products that agents actually want to use, and why knowing what to build may matter more than knowing how to build it. 01:18 - Growth and 4x Revenue 02:35 - Three Eras of Supabase 04:34 - “Builders” vs. Traditional Devs 08:42 - Personalized Apps 12:12 - Personal Databases & Data Ownership 15:56 - Scaling to Billions 17:58 - AI Adoption At Supabase 19:58 - Lessons Learned Along The Way 27:29 - Building For Personal Agents, Dogfooding 30:01 - Agent-First Design and Evals 38:42 - The Future Of Coding 42:36 - Opening Up More Entrepreneurship692221330.4K
