#sqlfamily, #sqlhelp once again finding that I need less improvement in technical skills and more in interpersonal. I'd love advice on learning to be a more effective and human communicator.

I'm using the #sqlhelp hashtag for a non question. Vendors, this hashtag is primarily used for questions related to Microsoft SQL Server, and secondly to general SQL questions. If you use it for marketing, the people you want to reach will block you. So don't.

🎇 SQL is the bread and butter of an analyst. You can’t survive in the Data Science industry with a grip on this ‘easy-looking’ query language 🔥 📍 Learning 20% of what SQL can do should cover 80% of what you’ll need in day-to-day tasks #SQL #sqlhelp

I want to learn about how to re-architect SQL environments before you move them to the cloud. When people say that, what does that mean? Anyone have blog posts or anything you can point me to? #sqlhelp

Anyone have any real world experience with comparisons of Postgres vs Microsoft SQL Server? I've got a friend whos company is considering Postgres as their new platform and only saying "well, its cheaper". No other benchmark, just license cost. #sqlhelp I'm trying to to be bias.

#sqlhelp looking for your recommendations. Dev wants to use [ID] for PK. Instead of [TableNameID]. Argument is that ORMs love using [ID]. Many perks in the EF world for its use. I say EF shouldn't dictate best practice in DB. Your thoughts?

#sqlhelp Does anyone have a good reference or blog about @Azure_Synapse security? My google-fu is letting me down. Some context: data is highest level PII and I need to prove data won't be available outside the subscription.

#sqlhelp NUMA/VM/MAXDOP gurus: I think SQL Server setup is getting the MAXDOP config wrong. Tell me what I'm missing. I have a server with 2 NUMA nodes, 64 logical processors total, 32 per NUMA node. According to KB 2806535, that should have MAXDOP 16:

Friends on #sqlhelp - let's assume I'm trying to achieve highest possible insert times for a big table load on an in-memory table. Do tools, say BCP vs SmartBulkCopy, make a big difference? #sqlserver #azuresql

#sqlhelp My understanding of transactional replication is that occasionally it's going to fail and require a new snapshot. But, I'll freely admit I'm not that great with replication. Is this true? Or am I wrong? And if it is true is there any MS documentation to that effect?

Day 26: Still practicing SQL. This was the coding language I was most excited to learn but I'm starting to get frustrated with the tutorial I'm following. Does anyone have suggestions for free SQL resources for beginners? #100daysofCode #sqlhelp

How are folks handling OS patching on larger (100+) SQL Server estates in production? Mostly manual? Relying on auto-failover? Something else? #sqlhelp

I'd like to install the Standard edition of SQL 2017 to validate that some R and Python functionality doesn't require the Enterprise edition, but I don't have a license key. Do I have any options other than buying a Standard license or setting up a SQL VM in Azure? #sqlhelp

#sqlhelp Looking for info on transactional replication DOWNSIDES, bad experiences, post-mortem write-ups. Bad stuff only, legitimate problems that made folks stop using it. I want to investigate before I propose it, expecting resistance/opposition. SQL2019 if that helps. Thanks.
