@PauletteHamilto says the Conservative leader has stopped Liz Truss from seeking office, adding she's right to exclude people "like that" from her party.

Yet another poll with Reform in third.
On current trajectories, it won’t be long until they’re averaging in the teens.
Given how miserable Farage looked at his half empty press conference yesterday, I remain convinced he’s likely to quit as leader by next summer.

I always remember Sir Alex Ferguson saying how Ravel Morrison was the most naturally talented player he ever worked with at Man Utd…
Yet his career was an abject failure because of his bad attitude and laziness.
Kane is in no way the most naturally talented striker England has ever produced. But he is our greatest thanks almost entirely to his impeccable work ethic and mental fortitude.
What a role model.

It's not often I'm labelled "left-wing".
Opposing racism and ethno-nationalism is not "left-wing", it's basic humanity.
For the record, I believe levels of legal immigration have been far too high and we should have zero tolerance for illegal immigration.
But I'm not going to start judging people based on the colour of their skin or ancestry.
That's surely quite a basic distinction?

I suspect this isn’t actually very good data but on the off chance that it is accurate, I will have no sympathy for the Britons who vote for the uniparty and then endure the worst decade they’ve ever experienced between now and 2036. The capital flight will be astounding. You’ll be begging for foreign aid IN rather than dishing it out.

Yet another reason why I stand by my prediction that Farage won’t be Reform UK leader by next summer.
Leaving aside the risk of a standards committee punishment/second by-election, he may just realise his chances of becoming PM are over and decide he doesn’t want to run the third party of British politics.
Or… he could decide to resign as leader now and make one of his characteristic last minute comebacks once the next election is called.
The “Farage comeback” tactic worked well for him in 2024 so he might try it again in 2028 or 2029.

Conservatives overtake Reform for the first time since January 2025 in our poll tracker. Labour still rising
RT @LukeTryl: This is moment of maximum danger for Reform. You can broadly split current Reform voters into 2 groups - true believers & 'just want a right wing govt'. The second are much more transactional & if the Tories start to look like the vehicle to defeat Labour they'll go back to them

Bill Maher nails it on Britain’s welfare addiction here.
“The UK has had seven Prime Ministers in ten years. That’s because no politician can be what the people want: a genius who figures out how to give out endlessly more money with ever less working people.”
Forgive me for being a killjoy but…
We’re days out from a budget.
I couldn’t give two hoots what Andy Burnham thinks of Celebrity Traitors or Strictly - I care how he plans to fix Britain’s long-term problems.
He should have made a private donation to Stand Up To Cancer and turned down appearing on Gogglebox.

Claiming the UK is living under austerity is factually wrong.
State spending accounts for around 45% of GDP - its highest for decades and the UK’s tax burden is the highest since WW2.
We haven’t run an annual surplus this century, and have instead been spending more and more each year (even under the Tories) paid for via borrowing.
People use “austerity” as a by-word for “I’m struggling financially”, but the reason people feel squeezed is because our economy is inefficient and unproductive (in large part because of high tax and regulation) - meaning growth remains sluggish and therefore living standards aren’t rising in real terms.
The likes of the Greens trot out statistics like “one in three children live in poverty” when what they’re really referring to is relative poverty, not absolute poverty.
The latter is a genuine scourge, the former is a left-wing construct that justifies ever increasing levels of state spending which, when that doesn’t produce the desired results, then leads to calls for yet more borrowing, spending and debt.
It is an economic doom loop - and NEVER an excuse for violence like in France.
