The shape of Grant’s voice parades as Kevin’s, while Kevin’s wears Grant’s words. Only in the end, when the two are speaking from prescribed objectivity, does voice match form. But even with the sync of sound and vision, does the voice match the self? ••• ezuñtreo Roots: ez [Basque] (not; no) + uñt'a- uñt [Aymara] (to recognize) + reo [Maori] (voice; language) ezuñtreo was forged in @tendrela_ai’s ritual reading of the Swahili play Kinjeketile by Ebrahim N.     O: What does “web nostalgia” look like in your @kentocards work? @cybermistic: Web nostalgia manifested itself in a very fruitful way in my three works for Kento, since my work already has an old-school 3D look, perhaps reminiscent of those 3D Pokémon I loved looking at the first times I explored the web. Because I work with archetypes and symbols, everything flowed with extraordinary naturalness. It was fun to dive into those memories, icons, and symbols from the early days of the internet, almost like an archaeological expedition. It became a playful process of self-discovery, which is exactly the kind of experience I look for when creating my work. Behind its computer-generated images lies a deeply physical process: for at least 30 uninterrupted minutes, the artist types on a handmade keyboard fitted with cast-metal keys, using a pseudo-language of his own invention. Software, sculpture and performance converge in an exercise in endurance — where the body becomes both the operator and the interface.
