This partnership - known as an Epi-Aid- is a rapid response by CDC's Epidemic Intelligence Service (EIS) to tackle urgent public health issues like disease outbreaks. EIS officers provide local officials onsite support for 1-3 weeks, aiding in quick decision-making to control health threats. The local authority leads the investigation while collaborating with CDC experts. “The measles outbreak in Texas is a call to action for all of us to reaffirm our commitment to public health. By working together -- parents, healthcare providers, community leaders, and government officials, we can prevent future outbreaks and protect the health of our nation. RT @CDCgov: CDC continues to be in close communication with Texas health authorities about the #measles outbreak in West Texas. @HHSGov is providing technical assistance, laboratory support, vaccines, and therapeutic medication as needed to the Texas Department of State and Health Services and New Mexico Department of Health.

⏪ To last August when we visited the Puerto Rico Vector Control Unit to see how CDC and partners are using an integrated approach to mosquito management — including through local education efforts, mosquito monitoring, and insecticide-resistance testing.

⏪ To visiting Nashville, TN to see CDC’s investments in suicide prevention at work last May! Learned from @TNDeptofHealth, @Centerstone, first responders & others about how they are using community-focused interventions to prevent suicide.

⏪ Last February, I joined our counterparts in Japan for a workshop on Pandemic Preparedness & Response to share lessons learned & best practices around respiratory viruses, data systems, emergency response & more. Partnerships like these are key to protecting health!
