Privacy

Lurkbird is a no-account X viewer. This page explains what we collect, how we use Google Analytics, and what we never store.

What we collect

You don't need an account to use Lurkbird, and we don't ask for one. We don't collect names, email addresses or passwords.

Like most websites, our servers keep short-lived technical logs (IP address, the page requested, the time, and your browser's user-agent) to run the site and defend against abuse. They are rotated quickly.

We also count visits and page views with Google Analytics, described below.

Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 (measurement ID G-3MRBQ4X6N3) to understand anonymous traffic: roughly how many people visit, which pages are read, and where visits come from.

Analytics sets cookies and receives your IP address, an approximate location, device and browser details, and the pages you view. Google processes this data on our behalf. We do not use it to identify you.

The gtag.js script is third-party; it is loaded asynchronously and never blocks the page.

Cookies

We use cookies only for analytics (the Google Analytics _ga and _ga_* cookies). We do not run advertising and we do not set advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

You can block or clear these cookies in your browser or with a content blocker; Lurkbird still works without them.

What we never store

We never store image or video files. Photos and videos are loaded by your browser directly from X's servers (pbs.twimg.com and video.twimg.com), and the download route streams bytes through without writing them to disk.

We don't build profiles of you, and we don't sell any data.

Your choices

Block analytics cookies or use a content blocker to opt out of Google Analytics. That doesn't change how the site works for you.
