At one point Damon came down to our part of the floor, and Skye got all excited pointing out the people managing the video cable using improvised solutions. She really wants to work on the technical side of live shows.

I moved to the East Bay in 2003 and somehow never made it to a show at the Oakland Arena until now.

Cowboy space has Big Iron. Virgin Galactic just announced Apeiron. Please note the pronunciation is very different, even if you just read them the same.

RT @vantortech: The @DefenseIntel latest Challenges to Security in Space report makes clear that competition in space is accelerating as China and Russia advance their capabilities. The report documents China’s expanding presence in space, including reusable space systems, and features Vantor’s WorldView Space imagery of a Chinese spaceplane in orbit in 2024. Our analysts provide additional context on the image in the graphic below. Commercial space is now a critical part of the national security toolkit. Commercial imagery and analysis give the U.S. and its allies greater visibility into activity in orbit and help decision-makers understand emerging capabilities. Continued investment in these capabilities is essential as the space domain becomes increasingly contested. Read the full DIA assessment and view the Vantor image on page 53:

If you’re pitching a space tech startup don’t use AI to make your videos, the space nerds will be suspicious. Make your videos using Kerbal Space Program and they’ll know you at least did simulated engineering.

RT @esa: Our Hera spacecraft can now see Didymos and Dimorphos as two separate asteroids! Coming closer, it will study the effects of NASA's 2022 DART impact and help advance asteroid deflection as a planetary defence technique. The first detailed images of Dimorphos are expected on 25 November. Follow Hera’s journey with the Hera Space Companion 👉 🔗

Current measurements show an absolute magnitude of 2.9 which makes it brighter, and potentially larger than Ceres. But further observations are needed across the spectrum to get a better handle on its properties. This will be another mini world on the edge of our solar system

Did we find a new dwarf planet? @VRubinObs has revealed a new dwarf planet candidate that orbits our Sun beyond Pluto! And it may be among the largest and brightest objects discovered in this region of the Solar System:

RT @ToughSf: Push a railgun past 3 km/s and the armature vaporizes. This fills the barrel with gases that allow plasma arcs to short-circuit the railgun. But what if the armature was already plasma? 40-stage plasma railgun tested to 10 km/s (arc only):

RT @jobyaviation: Big news: Joby is scheduled to fly our electric air taxi in Florida this Friday, October 30th, and everyone’s invited. In 1914, the world’s first commercial flight lifted off the water in St. Petersburg and crossed Tampa Bay. This week, we fly that route again. Same bay, a very different aircraft. But one thing hasn’t changed: no runway necessary. Come relive history and be part of a new chapter. 📍 Albert Whitted Park, St. Petersburg, Florida 🕘 9:00am ET RSVP ⬇️

We’ve talked about the rockets, the landers, the space suits for the USA’s return to the moon. But is @NASA developing a flag designed for the moon? Made of fabric and pigments that will survive unfiltered sunlight for decades or more? Maybe Betacloth with inorganic dyes? Or, maybe just make sure we keep sending new ones. China developed a flag of woven basalt fibers which was deployed on Chang’e 6.
