    As polls begin to close, I want to thank the candidates across all 444 of Ontario’s municipalities for their willingness to step up and serve the public. Our government is ready to work with everyone who is elected tonight on the issues that matter most to Ontario families: making life more affordable, keeping communities safe, delivering high-quality public services and protecting workers from tariffs and economic uncertainty.

    Check out the progress being made along the all-new Ontario Line, where new subway tunnels are being dug under downtown Toronto for the first time in six decades. Once complete, this 15.6 kilometre subway line will put more than 230,000 people within walking distance of transit and connect commuters from across the Greater Toronto Area.

I’m looking forward to working together as we unlock our natural resources, continue to break down internal trade barriers and build a more competitive and united Canada from coast to coast to coast. I also want to thank David Eby for his years of dedicated public service and wish him and his family all the best.     As Alberta hospitals continue to respond to the devastating fire that took place at CFB Wainwright last week, Ontario’s heroic health-care workers are stepping up to help. Ontario is deploying 28 health-care staff, including surgeons and nurses with special expertise in burn care, to support the recovery efforts. We’re also providing additional equipment to support their work as they care for those who were injured in last week’s fire. In times of crisis, Canadians pull together and have each others’ backs. That’s exactly what we’re doing.
