From fearing flying cars could fall on people's heads to unveiling one that flips through the air.
Elon Musk's position on flying cars has changed dramatically over the last 12 years.
In 2014 and 2017, he repeatedly raises concerns about noise, powerful air currents and the dangers of cars flying overhead.
In 2018, he begins discussing compressed-air rocket thrusters. By 2025, he's entertaining the idea of flying cars becoming something consumers can purchase.
Now, Tesla is putting that concept on display with its new Roadster, using SpaceX technology to launch the car into the air.
"This will be an actual car that's on the roads," Musk tells the audience.
