You can criticize me, disagree with my approach, or not like my tone. But one thing you can’t say is that I’m not doing the work.
For over a decade, I’ve consistently shown up for our communities, and I’m going to keep showing up because building Black political power matters more than being liked.
I’ve raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for families, employed dozens of Black consultants, taught Civics for the People as a free class to help folks understand their government and their power, and made sacrifices to speak truth to power. And I’m still outside, even when my name isn’t on the ballot. This isn’t a trend for me. It’s a commitment.
We also have to recognize when people don’t take our communities seriously and hold them accountable.
You can’t improve a community you won’t engage.
Black political power starts with showing up.
Shoutout to @rolandsmartin for coming to Baton Rouge and creating a space where Hillar Moore finally showed up to answer questions from Black voters.
