RT @Shanny4055: My feature on nation's leading passer, Braden Atkinson at @BeaverFootball @NCAA @pac12
    HighSchoolOT @HighSchoolOT
Alabama receiver Noah Rogers’ eye for quarterback talent never looked sharper than in the 2026 season. Long ago, he spotted the talent the rest of the nation now views as the NCAA's leading passer, Oregon State’s Braden Atkinson. Back in 2022, Rogers entered his senior season at Rolesville High as one of the nation’s top recruits. But quarterback Byrum Brown graduated and was at South Florida (he’s now at Auburn, where he led the Tigers to an upset of then-No. 1-ranked Georgia). Rogers was without an experienced quarterback to get him the ball. He was asked about Rolesville turning to Atkinson for his first varsity season as a sophomore. “Don’t worry about Braden,” Rogers said. “He’s going to be good.” Atkinson is now a sophomore at Oregon State and, through seven games, has thrown for 2,604 yards (372.0 per game) and 24 touchdowns with only two interceptions. He’s completing 69 percent of his passes (189 of 273) and is on a 12-game pace for 4,464 yards. The Rolesville alum leads all NCAA Division I quarterbacks in passing yards and passing touchdowns. In three varsity seasons at Rolesville (2022-24), Atkinson totaled 9,472 yards, 121 touchdowns and 14 interceptions. As a senior in 2024, he led the Rams to the N.C. High School Athletics Association title game in the large school 4A Division. So, where did Atkinson rank coming out of Rolesville among the Class of 2024? He was the No. 1,307 player in the nation. He had offers from Boston College and Miami of Ohio, but no other FBS schools, including the Triangle schools with Rolesville in their backyard. The only North Carolina-based college to make a verbal offer was Elon. HSOT Insiders can read more in this feature on Tom Shanahan, which includes perspective from Atkinson on his quiet in-state recruiting on HighSchoolOT.

A Harnett County classic hosted at Campbell University. The Week 11 Alpaca Chicken Game of the Week features a Harnett County regular season finale between rivals Triton and Harnett Central. The game will be hosted neutrally at Barker-Lane Stadium at Campbell University in Buies Creek. Alpaca Peruvian Chicken is the presenting sponsor of this year's live broadcast. Contact your local Alpaca for your catering needs. Fans can download the Alpaca app and make an account today to receive a dessert. The broadcast will begin at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, October 30, with 99.9 The Fan's Paul Ihander and HSOT's J. Mike Blake on the call. You can find it on YouTube, X, and Facebook. The rivalry, deemed the Hiester Bowl VI, will likely decide second place in the Carolina Pines 6A Conference. Both teams have an 8-1 overall and 5-1 conference record heading into the final week. The lone losses for both teams came to conference leader Union Pines. For the winner of the Game of the Week to claim a share of the league title, Union Pines would have to suffer an unlikely upset to Western Harnett on Friday. Barring that, the battle between Triton and Harnett Central will be for runner-up in the Carolina Pines. But much more than that, it will be for pride and momentum entering the postseason. Harnett Central has won each of the past three meetings in the Hiester Bowl, including last season's 23-6 triumph. Triton last defeated the Trojans in 2022 by a lopsided 48-0 margin. The Wildcats finish the regular season with a 9-0-1 overall record and clinch a share of the CAP 8A Conference title, no matter whether Rolesville wins this week. RT @JoelBryantHSOT: In the NCHSAA 3A boys soccer playoffs, East Davidson High School officials ended the season of the would-be 5-seed in the west region after a viral video of some players using a racial slur. East Davidson's self-removal from the playoffs opens the door for rival West Davidson to make the top 48 cut, thus leaving the East-West regional divider line where it was between Trinity HS and McMichael HS.

Your first NCISAA champions of the 2026-27 athletic year. Providence Day avenged last year's runner-up finish on a playoff tiebreaker to win the Division I title by 12 strokes. In D2, Forsyth Country Day won by 90(!) strokes to cruise to a title. In both classifications, freshmen were crowned state individual champs -- Charlotte Country Day's Arora Gayatri and Cape Fear Christian's Carolina Wynns.
