We are happy to share that IIIT-Delhi's team of three students, Saksham Bansal, Ronit Ghosh, and Ujjwal Kumar, pursuing in Computer Science and Applied Mathematics, secured third place at the Adobe India Hackathon 2026, competing against a massive pool of over 83,000 teams comprising more than 3,00,000 participants. Their project, AIRA (Brand AI-Readiness Audit), checks how easily AI answer engines like ChatGPT, Perplexity and Gemini can find, read, and cite a brand's website. It visits a site the way AI crawlers do and finds what's blocking them, such as robots.txt rules, noindex tags, content that only loads with JavaScript and missing structured data. AIRA then gives a readiness score from 0 to 100, with fixes ranked by priority. A live audit was conducted by the students in front of the judges at the finale. Dr Anoop Ratn (Visiting Faculty, IIIT-Delhi), served as a key resource person at the five-day national workshop, “From Tradition to Motion: Animating the Crafts, Folktales of Northeast India.” The workshop was organised by the Department of Visual Arts, Assam University, Silchar, with support from the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR). Drawing on his expertise in animation and visual storytelling, Dr Ratn engaged aspiring animation filmmakers in exploring creative approaches to interpreting, preserving, and communicating the rich cultural heritage of Northeast India through animation. We are delighted to announce that a paper titled ‘What Do Audio Models Really Hear? Layer Selection and Mechanistic Structure in Sound Representations’, authored by our student Arnesh Batra ( CSAI, Class of 2027), has been accepted for publication in the NeurIPS 2026, Main Track (Poster). NeurIPS 2026 is the 40th Conference on Neural Information Processing Systems, one of the leading international conferences in machine learning, artificial intelligence, and computational neuroscience. The paper studies how audio foundation models learn and organize information across different layers, and how this changes depending on how the models were trained. The author analyzes a wide range of audio models across speech, music, and general sound tasks, using representation geometry, probing, and mechanistic interpretability techniques. One of the key findings is that the final layer is often not the most useful. In many cases, earlier layers already contain the information needed for downstream tasks, suggesting opportunities to make these models more efficient by selecting or pruning layers. The broader goal is to move beyond simply understanding what models learn and use those insights to make practical decisions about their architecture and efficiency. An earlier version of this research was also presented at the ICML 2026 ML4Audio Workshop.
