RT @pdiprimio: Tyrique Tucker exemplifies what's best about IU athletics in general, @IndianaFootball in particular. The defensive lineman thrives because he works, because he cares, because he's never satisfied, even while overcoming personal loss. And so ... #iufb

New Colt incoming: the Colts have signed WR Mecole Hardman Jr. to the practice squad. Known for his exceptional speed, he is most famous for his time with the Kansas City Chiefs, where he won three Super Bowl rings and caught the walk-off, game-winning touchdown pass from Patrick Mahomes in overtime of Super Bowl LVIII. #ForTheShoe

HEARTBREAKING UPDATE: THE AIRMAN WHO FELL TO HIS DEATH AT THE UTSA FOOTBALL GAME LEAVES BEHIND A WIFE AND TWO YOUNG BOYS. We now know the identity of the U.S. Air Force member who tragically fell approximately 150 feet during a military rappelling demonstration at the Alamodome in San Antonio on October 17th. His name was Technical Sergeant Ian Patterson, a decorated Air Force veteran with 15 years of service. Ian was participating in a pregame demonstration honoring our military before the UTSA - Navy football game when something went terribly wrong. He descended at a dangerously high speed and struck the field in front of thousands of spectators. He was rushed to the hospital but tragically did not survive. Ian was a husband to Niki and a father to two young boys. Niki is a stay-at-home mother who homeschools their children. Ian was their primary financial provider. Ian spent 15 years serving our country. He served in Korea, Colorado, and Germany, and was recognized as the Air Force Special Warfare Enlisted Instructor of the Year in 2022. A GoFundMe has been established to help Niki relocate closer to family, provide for her children, and handle potential legal expenses. Please pray for Niki and these two little boys. Our military families sacrifice more than most people will ever understand. 🇺🇸 Rest in peace, Technical Sergeant Ian Patterson. Thank you for your service.

RT @Michael_Nania: Omar Cooper Jr. has run just 29 routes in the NFL so far, and he's caught 7 of 8 targets for 133 yards and a TD, while he had a 14-yard TD wiped out by a penalty that did not affect the play. Throw that one in, and he's averaging 5.07 yards per route run. Sheesh! #Jets

A CAUTIONARY NEWS TALE: #Eagles QB Jalen Hurts is now OUT for the season after multiple blood clots were discovered in his lungs, per his agents. As I said before, Hurts is owed multiple apologies!!! AND, the question should be asked if that ultra sound should’ve been performed BEFORE the flight to London & not after arriving upon a long flight overseas? Don’t ever make fun of a “superficial blood clot” ever again!!

Didn’t think there’d be a serious shot at this so I’ve not taken it overly seriously, but somehow I keep progressing - so if you have time, any votes are helpful! Thank you friends. I’d love to be a freelance @MaximMag sports content creator, this sounds really fun and would be a great opportunity.

People clowning Mike Tomlin’s Minecraft world might be missing the bigger picture. That level of hyperfixation and attention to detail is savant territory. Maybe not for football in the end, but likely for anything he chooses to apply it to. Extraordinary long-term focus, meticulous attention to detail, highly structured systems thinking, deep immersion. Tomlin himself has even mentioned having a touch of the ’tism, so this tracks. We watched Fernando Mendoza turn an obsessive special interest into a Heisman. Maybe there’s something to it. Just saying (in jest, don’t come for me). 😅

I honestly love JUCO Coaches. They are the last hope for a lot of guys and can be life-changing. There is a lot of talent at the JUCO level just working for a shot.

Just for fun- an interesting “what if” for the Colts - IUFB former RB Kaelon Black. I’d love to see Indianapolis explore the possibility of bringing KB back to Indiana. Not as a replacement for Jonathan Taylor, but as a young back with a lot of upside who could really benefit from learning behind one of the best in the league. Black already has the toughness, physicality, and work ethic. Imagine what a couple of years alongside JT could do for his development, learning the patience, vision, and little things that make Taylor so effective. I’ve said all along that I’d rather see the Colts build around their proven talent than move on from it. This could be a great example of that approach. Keep JT as the foundation, add a promising young back who can grow into a bigger role, and build some continuity in the backfield. And I’d be lying if I said seeing KB back in Indiana wearing the horseshoe wouldn’t be pretty cool.

The Jalen Hurts situation hits close to home. I’ve dealt with DVT and blood clots myself and have also been sidelined in the past from working the football sidelines for a time because of it. It’s life-altering, and that daily fear of a clot traveling to your lungs never really leaves you. Being on blood thinners can pose other risks and also brings a number of limitations. I have serious questions about how his situation was handled, the potential pressure to play, and the risks of those overseas flights. I’m not pointing fingers without all the facts, but this deserves a closer look. Blood clots aren’t something you just tough out. No football game is worth someone’s life. Wishing Jalen a full recovery. This sucks, I’m truly sad for him.

I’d keep JT and Buck off the trade block unless somebody makes an offer that’s just impossible to turn down. Those two are a big part of the heart of this team, both on the field and in the locker room. You can clean house in the front office and change the direction of the franchise without getting rid of the guys who’ve been giving you everything they’ve got. I’d rather see the new GM get creative with the rest of the roster, move some contracts, find value in free agency, and build through the draft. We already gave up our 2027 first-rounder, so I understand wanting to get some picks back, but trading away your best players just creates more holes to fill. The Colts don’t need to burn the whole thing down to start over. There’s still talent here worth building around, and I’d hate to see us lose the heart of this team trying to fix mistakes those guys didn’t make.

If the Colts end up moving on from Shane Steichen, Mike Tomlin would be one of my first calls. The guy went 19 seasons in Pittsburgh without a losing record, won a Super Bowl, and managed to keep that team competitive even when the quarterback situation was a mess. He’s got his critics, especially with the lack of recent playoff success, but there’s no questioning his ability to lead a football team. That said, I think the bigger priority is getting the GM hire right first. Let the new GM have a real say in who coaches this team and make sure they’re on the same page from day one. The Colts have spent too many years trying to make different pieces fit together instead of building something with a clear direction. That’s part of what makes Tomlin interesting to me. He’s experienced, respected, and knows exactly what he wants in a football operation. Pair him with the right GM, give them a shared vision and let them build it together. I wouldn’t want Carlie hiring Tomlin just because he’s a big name, or forcing him on a GM who wants someone else. But if both sides want to work together, that’s a conversation I’d absolutely have.
