RT @equalityAlec: I wrote about the fraud being perpetrated by numerous powerful people and institutions, including many people who identify as "progressives" and "socialists." In my view, this is one of the most urgent possible discussions in this authoritarian moment.

RT @equalityAlec: Malcolm Gladwell just published a new book and gone on one popular show after another arguing that the U.S. needs to massively expand the profitable police surveillance state. The entire argument is based on an embarrassing factual error.

To all the DSA nerds new to LA, Marqueece Harris-Dawson ran as a progressive who had “come out of the community”.

Axon surveillance is coming to LA. The vote to veto the Axon contract needed 10 yes votes to pass. Only 9 voted yes. @MRodCD7 said she would support the veto but seemed to change her mind after Eunisses called her out for her bad faith attacks.

RT @FilmThePoliceLA: When will DSA be voting for expel the three DSA-LA councilmembers that endorsed the candidate that denies the genocide? If you want to be righteous purist, don’t be hypocrites and fail to remove them. Be consistent.

Neither Bass or Raman have a working class movement behind them. This is lesser evilism like any other Los Angeles mayoral election. DSA has not base in L.A. They are more of a story than they are some sort of movement.

DSA’s vote to expel Nithya Raman or punish the LA chapter is an existential threat to the Left of Los Angeles. By analyzing the balance of forces and allegations against Raman, Matthew J. Hunter (@MattHunterMCR) and P.K. Gandakin (@pkgandakin) argue against this dangerous move to undermine the working class movement in LA. This internal repression must be rejected if we want mass revolutionary politics. READ:

RT @Liberation_Blk: Lula’s victory is an electoral defeat for the continental far right project amid Washington’s escalating imperial offensive in Latin America. The popular mobilization that made it possible deserves celebration. But defeating the far right electorally does not absolve progressive govts of their contradictions and accommodationism. Haiti cannot remain the exception to Latin American solidarity.

Despite how happy I am for Brazil, the hypocrisy of the international applause is hard to ignore. The same actors cheering Lula’s 4th term called Chávez a dictator for it and vilified PSUV for “human rights abuses” while turning a blind eye to Lula’s troops committing rape and war crimes in Haiti. Lula is afforded their sympathy because he maintained neoliberal economics, played nice with Noboa and Jolani, blocked Venezuela from BRICS, and aligned with U.S. intervention abroad. This election result is, without a doubt, a victory for the sovereignty of Latin America against egregious election interference. But not all those applauding are cheering for our sovereignty. And, as yet another Latin American country joins U.S. mercenaries in Haiti, it’s pretty gross that certain ‘human rights activists’ (especially the Latin American pachamama libs) ignore the stain on humanity that was MINUSTAH simply because it was in service of the U.S. interests.

RT @DropSiteNews: ⚡️ Mayor Zohran Mamdani's NYPD is poised to sign a three-year, $750,500 no-bid contract with Israeli surveillance firm Cognyte for FalcoNet, an AI-driven device that mimics a cell tower to track phones and can be mounted on police cars and drones or hidden in a backpack, the New York Daily News reported. Cognyte won a tender to sell intercept spyware to Myanmar's state telecom weeks before the 2021 military coup, Reuters previously reported. Meta banned the firm the same year, saying its customers used fake accounts to target journalists and politicians in Kenya, Mexico and Indonesia. The firm is part of an Israeli surveillance industry that grew big as a result of the military's monitoring of Palestinians, whose phone calls Israel's Unit 8200 has intercepted and stored by the millions, including to carry out genocide in Gaza and enforce a brutal illegal occupation in Jerusalem and the West Bank.

Sometimes I remember that the Democratic Party coup’d Henry Wallace in 1944 and you still delude yourselves into thinking we’re a few liberal elections away from what we deserve. Things are not bad cause we want it that way, it’s cause too many keep opting for the same okie doke.
