    NEGREIRA CASE: THE BIGGEST CORRUPTION SCANDAL IN FOOTBALL HISTORY. 🧵 Long thread 1/n Who is Negreira? Jose Maria Enriquez Negreira was a former referee who officiated matches in Laliga and some European matches from the 1979 season to 1992. He then held the position of vice President of Spain’s Referees Committee (CTA) from 1994–2018. What is CTA? Technical Committee of Referees is the body responsible for designating matches or promoting referees, assistant referees, match delegates etc. So vice president of CTA have all the power to rate referees and promote or demote them based on how they want. What happened? For nearly two decades, FC Barcelona paid companies owned by Negreira and his son over €8 million. The proof of payments are so solid that both Negreira or Barca never denied the fact about payments. More details: In 2018, when the club stopped paying, Negreira sent a burofax (Spain’s registered legal letter) threatening to expose irregularities. He warned he would cause “a scandal” by revealing everything he had witnessed first-hand unless payments resumed.

    🚨 𝗡𝗘𝗪: Mounir Nasraoui, father of Lamine Yamal, was involved in a VIOLENT altercation in the airport before boarding a plane to London for the Ballon d’Or gala. Everything started when he placed his jacket on a place where it's not allowed. A waitress from the airport staff told him to remove it, but the discussion ended up becoming more serious. It ended with Nasraoui SPITTING in the waitress' face. A by-stander tried to intervene, but Lamine's father grabbed a chair and tried to throw it to the man.     There is absolutely no way Lamine Yamal had a better season than Michael Olise. Both are right wingers, so this is a direct like-for-like comparison. Statistically, Olise was miles ahead. He delivered in big matches, broke assist records, and earned a place in both the Champions League and World Cup Teams of the Tournament. Meanwhile, Yamal managed just one goal contribution at the World Cup despite playing for the strongest team in the competition. His impact in major matches throughout the season was nowhere near good enough to justify ranking him above Olise. The Ballon d’Or has always been a PR award show, where media hype and popularity matter more than actual performances on the pitch.
