Le fat bastard @geek_u_s_aTurnstile songs are 3 minutes of the same riff and Brendan Yates saying some shit like “the power of friendship keeps me alive/separate my friend group I’ll probably die”
Tanya @tanyaelisabethhIt’s sad to think features like these have survived centuries, thousands of years of human history. Hooded eyes, aquiline noses, strong eyebrows, round cheeks, thinner lips, tall, larger built, square jaws, the very faces our mothers, our grandmothers carried, all of it stretching back to queens and peasants alike. Features that have survived it all, seen it all, and all for you to be told now — well it’s just not attractive. Imagine inheriting a face shaped by the entirety of human history, imagine being blessed with a beauty that has survived the many rises and falls of humanity, only to be told you now have to give it all up to the vanities of this generation. What worth is beauty without any history? What worth is beauty without meaning? What worth is beauty when it stops being something we recognize and instead becomes just something we manufacture?

Pigeons & Planes @PigsAndPlansTurnstile raised more than $250,000 for Human Concern International’s relief efforts in Palestine, Sudan, and Lebanon with a free show on the National Mall in front of the Washington Monument. The National Park Service estimated that around 60,000 people attended. The setting carried its own punk history. Fugazi played landmark shows at the Sylvan Theater on the Washington Monument grounds in 1993 and 1995. The 1993 show, a benefit marking the 30th anniversary of the March on Washington, drew about 5,000 people. @TURNSTILEHC's show felt like a new chapter in the same story and another highlight in an insane year for the band—which included two Grammy awards, an acclaimed remix album, and making their ‘Saturday Night Live’ debut. For the Baltimore band, whose members cut their teeth in the DMV hardcore scene, it was a triumphant homecoming. During the set, frontman Brendan Yates thanked the crowd: "We’re so grateful to have been raised by this scene, one that taught us that music not only reflects the artist making it but the people and the world and the suffering and the joy that surrounds it."

The Real Calvy J @CJRealHoops2*deep inhale* Guys, it’s The Beatles. Formulaic music that got hyped into genius status by a perfect storm of timing and savvy media, not actual skill. Expert exploitation of trends already pioneered by others. They’re a marketing phenomenon that got called the greatest because they sold a lot of records to herd-mentality teenagers, not because the music itself was ever the most advanced, demanding, or enduring rock ever made.
