The Houthis have not captured the majority of Taiz city, nor have their forces reached the city center. Heavy fighting continues along the city’s southern and western flanks. Taiz city proper has an estimated population of 600,000, while the wider urban area is estimated to exceed one million. Taiz governorate as a whole has approximately 3.5 million residents.
