Anthropic says building AI safely takes extraordinary care, and I agree. The people funding it deserve a real voice in how it's governed. Giving almost complete control to handful of corporate insiders and insulating them from shareholder accountability is not the way to oversee one of the most transformative technologies ever developed. Through 9/11, Hurricanes Sandy, Irene and Lee, and severe winter storms FEMA has provided invaluable help to individuals and the state in some of our most difficult times. Losing this support will hurt NY in the toughest of times and create a new level of fiscal uncertainty.
