    Rosebank. Energy Secretary Miatta Fahnbulleh recently reminded the Treasury publicly that she will not be pressured into an approval just to balance their books. That’s important because the chancellors figures in this budget assume she will approve Rosebank. This is interesting because the green warriors in the Labour Party will have a meltdown, including Ed Miliband.

    RT @sandieshoes: Budget  Defence. The Chancellor refused to name a deadline for hitting the 3% defence spending target during his speech. Did you hear that. Healey just brought other European countries into his speech. He is using them to hide his own budget problems. He talked about the war in Iran and global economic storms. He then named European ‘partners’ like Germany, Poland, France, and Italy  His argument is : Britain is working with Europe to strengthen alliances and handle global threats.  But he’s just using European cooperation as a shield ffs. By talking about how we are working “multi-nationally” with Europe, he is trying to make a delayed budget look like a joint strategic choice.  He wants us to focus on the big alliances so we don’t notice he still hasn’t given a firm date for Britain to hit its own 3% spending target.  It is standard Labour politics: if your own numbers don’t look good, start talking about your ‘European partners’🙄
