📚 On October 27, the Embassy of Russia in Pakistan hosted the launch of the textbook Pashto Advanced Applied Grammar. The event was attended by Ambassador Albert P. Khorev; Ambassador of Afghanistan to Pakistan Sardar Ahmad Shakeeb; Hafeez Ur Rehman Dauran, the textbook’s author and Professor at NUML; Dr. Muhammad Farooq Anjum, Head of NUML’s Department of Pakistani Languages; and representatives of Pakistan’s academic community and media.
💬 Speaking at the event, Ambassador Khorev emphasized that hosting the ceremony at the Russian Embassy was intended to draw the attention of the leadership and political circles of both countries to the fact that the peoples of Pakistan and Afghanistan share a common language and are uniquely positioned to understand one another.
“In this context, this Russian initiative can be seen as another call for compromise and as Russia’s contribution to resolving the differences between Islamabad and Kabul. Pashto can become a language of reconciliation between Pakistan and Afghanistan, just as Russian can become a language of reconciliation between Russia and Ukraine," the Ambassador noted.
🇷🇺🇵🇰 The initiative also seeks to strengthen academic ties between Russian and Pakistani linguists. The new publication aims to address the shortage of modern Pashto grammar teaching materials and encourage greater interest in studying the language at Russian universities. Copies of the textbook will also be provided to Russian universities where Pashto is taught.
The textbook was published with the support of the Embassy of Russia in Pakistan.
