I'm not married to my opinions. I throw them out here to see if someone can convince me otherwise. If they can show me I'm wrong, I update my opinion. In some cases, I'm really hoping someone will show me I'm wrong, because there are things I don't want to be right about.

RT @JeremyTate41: The education establishment in America is bankrupt. 5 changes created the perfect storm: 1) In the first half of the 20th century universities slowly abandoned the historical goals of education. They traded human formation and the passing down of a civilizational inheritance for “skills”, credentials, and eventually the deconstruction of a civilizational inheritance. 2) In the 60’s and 70’s universities sounded the alarm about overpopulation and climate hysteria. America listened and the birth rate began to fall and the stage was set for the “demographic cliff” currently rocking college enrollment. 3) The dot com revolution of the 1990’s eliminated a chief value prop for higher education. For centuries universities quite literally owned the books and in doing so access to knowledge. They controlled access to the world’s accumulated wisdom. Then suddenly anyone with a desktop or eventually a smart phone had access to more than the libraries of Harvard or Oxford could ever imagine. 4) The housing market crash of 2008 caused parents to rethink the value prop of a college degree. This, combined with the collapsing birth rate put universities in an arms race to build campuses like resorts in an effort to win over the dwindling pool of students. Tuition soared. 5) 5) The AI revolution delivered the final blow. Universities had already abandoned the formation of human beings in favor of information delivery, credentialing, and job preparation. Now artificial intelligence threatens to outperform them at all three: it can deliver information instantly, teach technical skills on demand, and increasingly prepare people for (or perform) the very jobs universities promise to unlock. The irony is that universities abandoned what would have made them irreplaceable in pursuit of what technology can now do better. Their only path to survival is to return to the ancient telos and the timeless work of human formation, enculturation, and civilizational transmission. If such universes need a fitting entrance exam for such an education I know a guy 😉

Under Trump and full Republican control, the Pentagon just told all U.S. military bases to prepare to be fully fortified for 90 days under the FORTRESS plan, but they didn’t tell the American people anything! And they did this one week before the midterms. Pretty much freaking everyone out because fortifying the military bases to operate independently with no connection to the outside world with the entire grid shut down seems like there will be no help for the American people. Like nothing. So basically that’s like saying, “You’re on your own.” And these people actually want you to vote for them. And why is everyone freaking out? Oh only because Trump has been basically saying he’s restarting the war with Iran that no one wants after midterms and now the Pentagon is fortifying U.S. bases. You want people to vote for you? Try instilling trust with the American people that you will ensure their safety, security, and prosperity. Not sending the message that they are on their own to starve, freeze, or eat each other while you wage world war 3.

Now that I'm a parent, the old liberal standby "teach the kids about the various religions/belief systems and let them decide" seems like utter insanity. "Yeah, honey, we have no idea what the ground of reality is. Could be anything, really. Here's a bunch of jumbled beliefs. You figure it out, because me and Dad got nothing."

They can blame “the tone in politics” on Trump all they want, but I don’t get the sense that they are just trying to match his tone. I think this is who they have always been, but used to get by on smearing polite language over their contempt for regular people. Losing their assumed superiority really brings out their disgust.

RT @SaP011: With the “Folgore” Paratroopers Brigade deployed in Milan and riot police units from the Police and Carabinieri on the streets of other cities, not a single shop has been looted across Italy. The Islamic/communist horde has been pushed back, for now. But unless we take action, starting with mass deportations and making communism illegal by equating it with terrorism, the future will be hell.

Bastava aprire i suoi profili social. Nessuno li ha aperti o a nessuno importava. Oppure, peggio ancora, sembrava tutto normale.

RT @JustineBateman: Lol, why? If your AI agents can do everything advertised, why not keep the voice fairly robotic? What is the reason to trying so hard to make these “voices” sound as human as possible? Deception. Any why would you want that? So you can trick people into lowering their guard and letting you further into their lives that they otherwise would. So you can cheat them.
