🚨🚨 Breaking News from the trailblazing reporter
@Olivia_Reingold, who broke news that Israel murdered the most vulnerable Palestinian children in Gaza before it murdered healthy children. Now, here is her latest scoop:
1) Israel is a "distinctly Middle Eastern" country. my mind is blown.
2) there are stray cats in Israel. Olivia -- can you do an blockbuster front page
@TheFP expose exclusive on this observation, co-authored with
@bariweiss?
3) There are mosques in historic Palestine. Olivia is discovering that there were Muslim Palestinians in Palestine before it was colonized by Jews.
4) Black Jews are just as good as committing genocide and apartheid as White Jews, and not enough people focus on the racial diversity of the genocidaires!
5) Arab children are forced to learn the Jewish history of Palestine (while Jewish children are obviously never forced, indeed, never even exposed to Palestinian, Muslim or Arab history). Great observation, Olivia! You are really learning!
6) Olivia met "a Mizrahi cab driver whose parents fled Morocco in the 50s."
Now a short history lesson, because you brought it up: ~2/3rds of Jews who sought to immigrate to Israel from across North Africa were rejected before 1954. The highest rejection rates were of Moroccan Jews. Israel adopted a selective immigration policy, rejecting many Jewish prospective immigrants in the early years. The Moroccans were considered the worst of all the Jews, backwards, brown, dirty, etc., so they were rejected em masse, including Moroccan Jews that suffered persecution.
Consider the Vazana family, who wished to emigrate from Morocco to Israel in the 1950s, but remained in Casablanca because Israeli immigration authorities did not let them travel with two of their children classified as disabled by Israel. The family was told they should leave them behind. Their story was a typical case in Morocco.
Hey
@Olivia_Reingold you should publish a memoir about your life changing experiences in Apartheid Israel. I think it would be really eye opening!
Olivia Reingold @Olivia_Reingold
I was expecting Israel to be a little America—mostly English-speaking, a land full of convenience.
What I found was distinctly Middle Eastern—the people are brash, speak with their hands, and often don't know a lick of English. There are stray cats everywhere, mopeds, and graffiti. The street signs are in Hebrew, English, and Arabic. There is a mosque on prime beachfront property in Tel Aviv.
There is every kind of citizen imaginable. I saw Ethiopian Jews serving in the IDF. While touring an ancient Jewish site, I ran into a group of Arab schoolchildren also there to learn. I met a Mizrahi cab driver whose parents fled Morocco in the 50s.
Douglas Murray famously made Americans irate when he flamed Dave Smith on an episode of Joe Rogan for having never traveled to Israel—but he’s right. Visiting Israel shows you just how wrong the west is about the Jewish state.
Just go there.
