A few designers reached out about my current process of building a Design System from scratch and this is my process in a nutshell: 1. Tokens first. Claude sets up spacing (2–64), radii (8, 12, full), colours and type, all with semantic names like text/brand and bg/surface. 2. I create UI, wired to the specs. Every gap, corner and colour points at a token. 3. Once a pattern works in a real screen, Claude turns it into a DS component (variants, properties, token bindings) and adds it to the library. I run it in Claude Cowork now, connected to Figma. Same loop works from the terminal with Claude CLI + the Figma MCP.
