to everyone attending their first devcon, here’s a quick checklist:
1. the smartest people from the ecosystem will be around you. make sure you learn from them, how they interact, think, stay passionate. respect their time. give them space. if you have anything to ask first think what you can offer?
2. devcon is the bedrock of opportunities. i got my first BIG break during devcon SEA. devcon 8 can be your turning point in career.
3. remember this is one of the most hyped conferences of the year. you’ll find lots of quality operators, devs as well as investors. just have a clear plan & most likely you’ll end up with your first job, first cheque, first 1000 users.
4. make a list of all the activities you want to do, speaker sessions you want to attend, people you want to meet. ideally should be short, focused & curated list. (quality over quantity always)
5. create content, share your insights about a session, spam x (in a good way), help a founder get visibility, his first 10 users
6. make friends don’t connections. historically devcon has attracted participants from 130+ nations. this is your time to have global friends, learn about their culture, mix-up beyond any barrier; who knows you’d end up working together!
