Here's a cool axial slice where you can see the optic chiasm on one side, and the optic tracts going to the LGN on the other. #neuroanatomy#neuropath#neuroscience
Usually we cut the brain in the coronal plane, but fun to cut it sagitally once in a while. The #hippocampus looks so much longer in the sagittal plane! Side note: operculum means “little lid” in Latin … opercula are little lids over the insula #neuropath#neuroscience
Cool view of the #hippocampus This is a coronal cut through the anterior (pes) hippocampus looking posteriorly, so left is right (how radiologists like it). Pes means paw 🐾 or foot. Looks kind of like corkscrew pasta here or a caterpillar 🐛 #Neurotwitter#neuropath#neurology
Classic #neuropathology that every pathologist should know, lest you end up with egg on your face! 😜 What is the diagnosis? Molecular findings? #neuropath 🧠 🔬
Can you make a #diagnosis of this tumor with nothing but a single H&E image? (Coming from me, at least you can reasonably assume it’s #neuropath related!). 🧠🔬
🤿🧠Brain Small Vessel Disease Classification Schema
(Based on neuropath process🔬, vessel diameter, distribution)
Goes to show the large range of distinct pathological processes 👾 affecting brain small vessels.

Intracranial, dural-based mass. Diagnosis, including grade? (Hint: IHC +PR, +SSTR2A). Residents, gotta know this one for the #PathBoards!

In the spirit of all things #neuropath with the ending of #neuropath2020, I wanted to share an update to my popular CNS tumor map.
This version includes nearly 50 entities, many of which are defined by their molecular genetics.
