Our starter apps saved 47.0 KB with Start, 48.1 KB with Vite, 39.3 KB with Vinext, and 35.7 KB with Next.js. All emitted client JS + CSS, gzip, compared with React. Start and Vite can go smaller by disabling unused features.

Every TheKitBase template is now audited to WCAG 2.2 AA. 13 Next.js templates, 526 checks: every page type, every theme, phone and desktop, with menus and dialogs open. This video has no mouse in it. And the check ships with each template: npm run test:a11y

next.js dropped critical fixes on oct 14 for image optimization with svg and for cache components. patched in 16.4.1+ and 15.5.28+ on the 15.5 line. we went through client sites the same day. if nobody owns updates on your next app, this is the kind of thing that sits open.

I've been fascinated by page transitions on the web for a while, especially the way some sites make moving between pages feel like part of the experience. I spent some time trying to figure out how to achieve that in Next.js, but kept running into limitations with the approaches I found. Rather than settle for a ready-made solution, I wanted to understand how I could build something that gave me more control. So I sat down and built my own approach. This was my first iteration, with two types of transitions working together: the general page transitions and the project cards that animate into the next page. There's still more I'd like to explore with this, but I'm happy with how it turned out.
