RT @craigstammen: DFA Casey Mize tomorrow and bring up someone who can throw innings the next two days. We don’t want him in October anyway. I’ve never seen a bigger mental midget who can’t handle pitching with any type of pressure.

RT @ChangeThePadres: Kawhi launched the Aztecs into orbit, made us proud with two finals MVPs, and now completely sank a Los Angeles franchise. Dude is a San Diego boy through and through.

RT @TrungTPhan: Ted Turner is prob most responsibile for wild popularity of “The Shawshank Redemption” (still #1 rated IMDB film). Buys Castle Rock and film rights to Stephen King’s novel. Film flops in 1994 but goes HAM on cable. Director Frank Darabont said, “Turner started airing [it] on TV like every five minutes for years. There was this endless opportunity for people to catch up with it on a Turner network, and so I bless Ted Turner as well. Because he played the heck out of it." Film only made $16m box office in first run but $100s of million in second life as VHS, DVD and licensing. As Bill Simmons would say, one of the ultimate films where no matter which part of the film you stumble on, you’ll want to finish the rest of it. Among most shown films on cable ever (need to fill that airtime). One last amazing detail: Stephen King never cashed the $5,000 check he got for film rights. King framed it and sent it to Darabont with a note: “In case you ever need bail money. Love, Steve." *** More from this 2014 WSJ piece:

-No Cartoon Network (my God) -No countless reruns of Shawshank Redemption because...well...there is no TNT. Think about it likes this...without Ted, Atlanta becomes another Birmingham or (best case scenario) Memphis.
