It is usually referred to as an elk, but it’s not certain what animal it represents. The geometric pattern dates it to the Late Paleolithic to early Mesolithic period when zigzag lines in various combinations were used to decorate hunters' weapons, personal tools, amulets, and other items.

RT @AlisonFisk: Wow, the world’s oldest shipwreck found off coast of Turkey! “A time capsule at the bottom of the sea” 🌊 A trade ship heading for the ancient city of Troy or Minoan Crete sank with a cargo of storage jars 🏺 Residue tests will show what they contained c. 4,700 years ago! #Archaeology

RT @AlisonFisk: This ancient Greek figure from the 2,500 year-old Douris Cup looks uncannily like someone working on a laptop! 😲 💻 He’s actually writing with a stylus on a hinged wax writing tablet! The technology has changed, the posture has not! 😂 Altes Museum, Berlin 📷 by me #Archaeology

RT @chapps: I cannot even get my head around the #BritishMuseum closing and cancelling tickets people held for the Bayeux Tapestry for a damned politician’s dinner. ‘Just get another ticket’ is not the right answer, considering many have waited months and traveled far to attend. Grotesque.

Waited since I was 7 years old to see the Bayeux Tapestry. Got in an hour-long online queue to spend £50 on tickets. Got there ahead of time. Stood in a queue for 20 minutes. Then was told halfway through the queue that the gallery was closing. The @britishmuseum stinks 😭
