Mayor Johnson, Commissioner Boatright and Ald. Waguespack joined JDL Development & Kayne Anderson today to break ground on Foundry Park, a 31-acre, $3 billion mixed-use complex in Lincoln Park. Plans include 3,737 homes, 970,000 commercial square feet and 8+ acres of open space.

Located at Southport and Cortland, Foundry Park's sustainable design elements include native landscapes, naturalized shorelines, an innovative stormwater system, bike facilities, bird protection measures, green roofs and other Sustainable Development Policy strategies.

Plan Commission voted to adopt DPD's South Chicago Land Use Framework, a community-guided plan establishing residential, commercial and open space priorities and improvement strategies for portions of the 7th and 10th wards. Learn more and see the plan at

Plan Commission approved Range Group's residential proposal for 1133 W. Kinzie St. in West Town. The $20 million project includes 110 mixed-income units and parking for 33 motor vehicles and 110 bikes.

Plan Commission approved the Chicago Cubs' proposed expansion of a 581-space surface parking lot at Racine Avenue and Grace Street in Lake View. The project would demolish vacant nearby buildings to add up to 219 parking spaces and enhanced landscaping.
