RT @Conservative2TX: Food trucks used to be the affordable alternative to restaurants. Now some of them are charging $22 for tacos and expecting you to eat standing next to a parking lot.
Seriously, when did this happen? You pull up expecting a quick, affordable meal.
You order three tacos and a drink.
Suddenly, you’re spending $25 or more.
And there’s no indoor seating.
No air conditioning.
No waiter.
Sometimes not even a table.
HOW DID STREET FOOD START COSTING AS MUCH AS A SIT-DOWN RESTAURANT?
Now, I understand food truck owners have expenses, too.
Ingredients, permits, insurance, labor, fuel, equipment, and maintenance aren’t cheap.
And plenty of food trucks serve incredible food that’s worth paying extra for.
But as a customer, it’s getting harder to justify paying restaurant prices without the restaurant experience.
The whole appeal used to be delicious food, convenience, and affordability.
Now it feels like some food trucks have become gourmet restaurants on wheels, complete with gourmet prices.
And don’t forget the tablet asking for a 20% tip before you’ve even received your food.
Am I the only one who thinks food trucks have gotten ridiculously expensive, or are their prices justified?
