A familiar public figure in an Ad does not make the offer genuine. Citizens are advised to stay alert against deceptive Ads on Facebook and Instagram that misuse the identity of the Prime Minister, Finance Minister, Chief Ministers and other public figures through manipulated or deepfake videos to promote fake Government welfare schemes, financial assistance and cashback rewards. Such Ads may redirect users to fraudulent Websites or lead to Calls/WhatsApp messages, including from +92 numbers - where scammers may demand tax, registration, processing or verification fees to claim supposed benefits.
