    Taking the Oath. Part II Presidential Oath of Office “I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my Ability, preserve, PROTECT and defend the Constitution of the United States.” Article II, Section 1, Clause 8. Yesterday, I emphasized PRESERVE. Today, I want to call attention to another word in the presidential oath: PROTECT. The federal oath under 5 U.S.C. § 3331 requires those covered by it to SUPPORT AND DEFEND our Constitution. The presidential oath expressly includes the obligation to PRESERVE and PROTECT it as well. To PROTECT requires vigilance. It requires recognizing threats to our constitutional freedoms and taking lawful action before those freedoms are lost. It demands judgment, courage, and an unwavering commitment to the limits our Constitution places on government power. I pray our leaders understand the responsibility they have accepted. Their decisions reach beyond their time in office. Our children and grandchildren will live with the consequences.

    Some of the leaders in Europe—Macron included—want this conflict with Russia to continue.We’ve talked about the military-industrial complex here in the United States that keeps beating the drums of war. Europe has one too. For that complex to keep growing and justifying itself, it needs a boogeyman. Right now, that boogeyman is Russia. As long as they keep repeating “Russia is the threat, Russia is the threat,” they get the budgets, the influence, and the political cover they want. The endless war narrative serves their interests, not the interests of the people paying for it or the soldiers on the ground.This isn’t about defending Europe from an imminent invasion. It’s about sustaining a system that requires a permanent enemy.

From a friend on the ground: “Brazil Supreme Court Justice, Cristiano Zanin, President Lula’s former lawyer who defended him during the Petrobras corruption scandal and whom Lula himself appointed to the Supreme Court, ordered that voting across Brazil be extended by TWO HOURS!!! Zanin is not even a member of the Superior Electoral Court (TSE), whose president was appointed by Bolsonaro. The TSE normally handles election issues. His decision forced election authorities to suspend the vote count. The real scandal however, lies in the fact that Zanin had no legal authority to intervene, yet he did so anyway to help his buddy Lula. The order was subsequently restricted to polling stations that had not yet closed, most likely in less developed regions where Lula tends to receive more votes.     Breaking: Strategy and a brief class on what it means for today’s global strategic environment. The main reason I offer this short missive below is because in government versus our military, there is a tendency not to consider strategy when it comes to the application of physical force to achieve political ends. We tend to just execute without a clearly defined set of political outcomes. This occurs regardless of which political party is in control of our government. It is well worth considering this definition as a means to an end, especially with the current global environment that America faces. Without that “finger tip feel” of the operational environment, America faces an uncertain outcome in many of our current global engagements. So what exactly is Strategy? Strategy is a system of makeshifts, improvisations, or ad hoc adjustments. It is more than a science, it is the application of science to practical affairs; it is carrying through an originally conceived plan under a constantly shifting set of circumstances. It is the ability to adjust with foresight and resource awareness given a rapidly changing environment. Strategy is also the application of common sense in the work of leading to feasible, acceptable, and suitable outcomes. Strategy’s teachings hardly go beyond the first requirement of common sense (something I personally value in leaders); in fact, its value lies entirely in the concrete application of common sense. It is a matter of understanding correctly at every moment a constantly changing situation, and then doing the simplest and most natural thing with energy and determination. This is what makes war an art, an art that is served by many sciences. Like every art, war cannot be learned rationally, but only by experience. In war, as in art, there can be no set standards nor can a code of set rules take the place of brains. When a leader or nation lacks strategy, subordinate organizations can quickly slip into reactive chaos. Without a clear long-term destination, work turns into a series of random fire drills. What Happens Without a Strategy? Without covering the details I’ll describe categories of actions that affect the application of proper strategy: 1. Constantly Shifting Priorities. 2. Appearance of a Fire-Drill Culture. 3. Burnout and Turnover (ie., Exhaustion). 4. Decision Bottlenecks (in other words, an upward flow of decision making because no one knows what the leader wants to achieve). 5. Tactical Tunnel Vision (not seeing the forest through the trees). So what? Leaders must reflect on the stated goals and objectives and intended end state (and do so constantly). A flexible and creative mind is required at the most senior levels simply due to the changing nature of warfare. This is one of the highest priorities of leaders engaged in warfare (political leaders and otherwise). Like it or not, America faces serious adversaries and many uncertainties and we must constantly adjust our nation’s security strategy based on the circumstances of the ever changing global security environment. Given the speed of information, advancements in technologies, and innovative applications of both the art and science of warfare, our leaders must be highly adaptive and creative, because adversaries now and in the future most certainly will be.     . @glennbeck there will be no “checkmate” until there is accountability. Once there is accountability, then the pieces will begin to fall. Identifying this problem is one thing (and a good thing), but doing something about it is a whole other story. What do you see as the next steps? 1. Do we have a citizen’s test to determine loyalty to our nation? A pledge of allegiance? 2. Do we shut down the red-green alliance? 3. Do we keep pretending like our two party system is viable? 4. Do we pretend like the WDC establishment really cares about the American people? 5. Should we keep looking away from an election system that is broken (clearly the majority of Americans don’t trust it). I know voting matters and I’ll continue to push for people to vote (I’m doing that now in multiple states across the nation), but let’s be honest, we are now voting for the lesser of two evils. Until there is truly an America First Movement, solely focusing on renewing and reestablishing the American dream, with all that means and all the sacrifices required, we remain in a spiral toward further decline.

    Intelligence community reform is long overdue. President Trump set out to get it done at the beginning of his second term, but it seems those efforts have been abandoned. The American people deserve a strong DNI who is empowered by POTUS to provide legitimate oversight of the IC. It’s why the role was established in the first place, after the abject failures of 9/11. Appointing Tulsi Gabbard as DNI was a shot across the bow that kicked the IC machine into overdrive, subverting and resisting any attempts for positive change every step of the way. Maybe POTUS got tired of the fight. The DNI is meant to serve as the final check on any intelligence coming from IC elements like the CIA/NSA/DOW to ensure the intel is presented to POTUS in its proper context. For example: Did we get this intel from a partner nation? How did they collect it? Why are they sharing it with us, and why now? In the lead up to the Iran war, intelligence was consistently presented to POTUS as “our intelligence,” when, in fact, it came from the Israelis. This is why DNI Gabbard’s public testimony was at times different than the CIA director’s—she testified to the U.S. Congress the consensus of the U.S. intelligence agencies, not of a foreign nation’s. Real IC reform cannot happen without an empowered DNI who is able to exercise the full scope of the role. The CIA is too proficient at handling the President’s appointed directors—it’s easy to get distracted once you’re caught up in the thrill of espionage & covert operations. Conversely, the DNI has the slightly more removed vantage point to assess operations & intelligence without being a part of the operations. Without a DNI looking into all covert action & special access programs to assess whether they’re aligned, these programs will continue to operate in the shadows—out of sight from POTUS, the public, & even most of the IC—all the while undermining POTUS’s agenda. The same concept applies to the DNI’s authority over the much-needed oversight of the FBI’s intelligence activities. Without an empowered DNI, there is no one looking into FBI investigations—like the J5 pipe bombs, the events of J6, or Butler, or Charlie Kirk’s assassination. The list goes on. Without the DNI overseeing the FBI, there is no check on domestic intelligence being used against the American people. Without legitimate oversight, the CIA & other IC elements will be permitted to continue enacting their own foreign policy, regardless of who the American people elect and the agendas we vote for.
