A BIRTHDAY NOTE TO MYSELF
Dear Me,
Today I choose to pause and truly look at you.
Look at how far you have come.
I have seen the rise and the fall. I have seen seasons when business was booming, money was flowing, my phone wouldn't stop ringing and I felt like I could conquer the world. And I have also seen seasons when everything went silent. When plans failed. When I lost money. When I lost people I trusted. When I questioned if I was even on the right path.
But through it all, I DID NOT BREAK.
My strength is not loud, it is quiet but stubborn. It is the strength that made me wake up when I had every reason to sleep forever. The strength that made me show up, dress well, carry myself with dignity even when my account balance was saying something else. That is carriage. That is class. I never let the struggle make me look like the struggle.
My resilience? Unmatched. I have been knocked down more times than I can count, but I have never stayed down. I cried, I prayed, I strategized, I started again. I rebuilt from zero - not once, not twice. Most people would have quit but I kept going. That is not ordinary, that is grace and grit combined.
My doggedness - I don't know how to quit. Even when I was tired, I was still moving. Even when growth was slow, I was still growing. I refused to relent. While others were looking for quick money, I was building character, building capacity, building a name that will stand.
I have grown. Oh, I have grown. Not just in business, but as a person. I am wiser now. I am more patient. I am more discerning. I am more grounded. The old me would have chased everything but now I know what to chase and what to let go. I have learned to turn pain into lessons and lessons into profit.
So today, I celebrate not just my age but my journey.
I celebrate the woman who refused to give up.
I celebrate the tears that no one saw.
I celebrate the small wins that became big wins.
I celebrate the carriage I maintained through it all.
If I could survive what I have survived, then what is coming will not break me - it will build me even more.
This new year, I am not just older. I am stronger. I am clearer. I am more focused. I will not relent. I will grow, I will rise and I will take up space unapologetically.
The best part of my story is not behind me. It is ahead of me. And I am ready for it.
Happy Birthday, Champion.
You did well. And you will do even better.
With love, pride and respect,
Me.
