It was my pleasure to meet with the Mexico Foreign Ministry’s Director General for Diplomatic Strategy for North America, Soileh Padilla Mayer (@soilehpm). As Dallas’s position in the global economy continues to rise, Mexico is eager to explore new partnerships with our city. Together, we are building on our longstanding ties and opening new doors for trade, investment, and growth.

Today marks three years since Hamas and its allies carried out a horrific terrorist attack on Israel, taking 1,200 innocent lives, kidnapping hundreds, and seriously wounding thousands. Shortly thereafter, the City of Dallas passed a resolution condemning Hamas and affirming its commitment to stand with Israel. That commitment continues to this day. In accordance with Governor @GregAbbott_TX's direction, the City lowers its flags today in solidarity with Israel and in remembrance of the lives lost and families forever changed. Let us continue to pray for peace, security, and healing for the people of Israel and the region.

I’m incredibly proud of my Mayor’s International Advisory Council and its chair, Ambassador Jeanne Phillips, for their transformative work helping tell Dallas’s story on the world stage. Dallas is attracting development and investment from around the globe, and our intentional, strategic approach to international relations is part of what’s driving that growth.

Right now, Dallas has a Mayor and City Manager who are perfectly aligned when it comes to attracting new businesses, especially financial firms, and bringing efficiency to City Hall. And this alignment is producing results. This week, @MorganStanley announced its building a new $1.3 billion hub in Dallas, and our new City budget is a step in the right fiscal direction. @KBTDallasCM and I discussed all this and more with @cbs11jack. Today marks 25 years since the tragedy of September 11, 2001. Nearly 3,000 lives were taken on that day, a fact we must #NeverForget. Amid the horror, we saw the best of America on full display—the extraordinary heroism of both public safety officers and everyday civilians who put the lives of others before their own. Twenty five years later, may we remember both the terrible cost of that day and the courage that rose to meet it.

Today, we broke ground on Dallas’s new Law Enforcement Training Center at UNT Dallas—a major investment that will help Dallas sustain its record-breaking public safety success for years to come. When complete, this world class facility will equip hundreds of new officers with the training they need to keep Dallas safe. Thank you to all our partners who have supported this effort for helping strengthen the future of public safety in Dallas.

Today marks two years since Dallas tragically lost Officer Darron Burks in the line of duty. Heinously targeted for his commitment to serve and protect the people of this city, Officer Burks died a hero. Two years later, he still represents the very best of Dallas. His example shows us what it truly means to put our community before ourselves and serve others without hesitation. We preserve Officer Burks’ legacy by following that example and by standing with our public safety officers who put their lives on the line for Dallas every day.

I extend my sincere condolences to the people of Uganda's Tooro Kingdom on the passing of His Majesty the Omukama of Tooro, King Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV. Five years ago, I had the honor of meeting King Oyo and presenting him with a key to the City of Dallas as a symbol of our friendship. King Oyo impressed me as a dignified and respected leader, and he will be missed. My prayers are with his family, the Tooro people, and the nation of Uganda during this time of mourning.

Along with millions of Americans, I am deeply saddened by Dolly Parton’s passing. She was a true icon whose music inspired generations. Beyond being a legendary artist and entertainer, she was a businesswoman, a philanthropist, and an outspoken woman of faith. Rest in peace, Dolly.

My boy’s off this morning for the start of a new school year. It’s hard to believe he’s already in 6th grade! I’m so proud of the young man he is becoming, and I’m excited to watch him excel in the year ahead.
