my experience as wellMo @atmoioAnybody claiming AI is editing their videos end to end is lying. Frame-by-frame control is essential and I simply cannot figure out how to go back and forth with an agent on this that's anywhere near as fast as a traditional point and click flow in Final Cut.001196

the AI age "specialist" is a generalist with highly-specific long-term vision/direction and "ai makes everything faster" is only part of the story if you can do an amazing motion graphic in a prompt, imagine what the professional animator that used to spend 18 hours on a similar motion graphic can now do with their 18 hours > "i can make really motion graphics now" (based on motion graphics someone made 5 years ago) nice, the person who used to spend all day doing that has pumped out an entire an entire tv series based on a world they thought of when they were 12 years old. > "i can do all my own branding now" branding dudes are now doing a full worlds around the brand, from beginning to end, including component libraries, linters, enforcement measures, end-to-end AI content gen stuff, full motion graphics prompts/skills/srefs etc all creation is compounding personal context into new forms: there is no amount of tokens that can buy you the unique perspective of someone who has been doing this professionally for years e.g.: I've been working on the same visual aesthetic for over 4 years and it compounds massively (e.g. today i was like "Hey computah, spin me up a Davinci plugin that does XYZ from that video i made 3 years ago) – and it one-shot it nobody else needs it but me, and it would be incredibly time-consuming for anyone to try and duplicate it if you're going wide, and have a bajillion non-deep projects, you're going to be left behind by those who are still putting in the same amount of time into their craft, enhanced by AI. i don't take the whole "taste" discussion seriously in many respects except this one: the person who has been assembling a lifetime of readable context and care (works, creations, journals, notes, ideas) that all point into a single unified direction is at a MASSIVE advantage comparative to the money-chaser, million-idea haver, click-funnels ecom facebook ads billion tokens spender depth and time spent on something doesn't change with AI, those who love their craft will spend the exact same amount of time on it as they did before: their outputs will just be that much grander you can have a million projects, hell, i have a million projects but are they all reflective of your own unique worldview? how many of those were in service of a unique, un-explainable-to-anyone-else purpose because in order to explain it, it had to exist? your works and creative voice would often take a lifetime to explain to another person: but AI can injest all of them, and then, you don't have to explain it to a person: you can just show them magicland329661

my thoughts on agentic video editing, have tried about 8 different “agentic video editors” 1. use markers on the timeline in Resolve to place comments/prompts 2. terra 6.1 light + davinci MCP as good as it gets 3. make your own plugins + presets + fx 4. osmo film emulationSabba Keynejad @sab8aMy thoughts on the agentic video editing wave: 1. There won't be one winner in agentic video editing. Speed, use case and workflow will always matter. Just as Cursor moves upmarket while Lovable caters to non-technical users, specialised video tools will continue to serve different audiences, even as general-purpose agents improve. 2. Every major AI leap unlocks new product categories. Since GPT-3.5, we've seen coding, 3D and presentations. Opus 5.5 and Google's vision-language models are now unlocking agentic video editing. The edits still look more like websites than videos, but this is the worst they'll ever be. 3. Editing costs will collapse, and the number of creators will explode. Basic edits could go from dollars to cents within a year, with huge speed improvements. Frontier models will still command a premium. As editing becomes effortless, recording content might be the biggest bottleneck. 4. The best editors might be the biggest critics of agentic editing. Just as experienced engineers initially resisted AI-generated code over quality and maintainability, I think professional editors will eventually come around as the tools improve. 5. The real magic is in iteration. Getting 80–90% of an edit right on the first attempt is great, but making it excellent requires much more iteration. The way creators give feedback, refine edits and make videos feel distinctly theirs is where these tools will become truly magical 6. Anthropic's focus on coding enabled agents to build videos using HTML/CSS, SVG, browser rendering and OpenCV. Packages like Hyperframes, Rebooshed and VEED's OpenEdit gave LLMs editing capabilities they previously lacked. Opus 5.5 now makes many of those use cases redundant. 7. Chat alone won't be enough for video editing. Chat will be central, but video operates across time and X, Y and Z coordinates. More sophisticated UI will be needed to make great edits. 8. Brand consistency and repeatability remain unsolved. A Casey Neistat video feels distinctly his because of intentional creative decisions. Creators and brands need that same predictability across hundreds of edits. Even vibe coding hasn't solved this well (yet). 9. Basic editing won't be a long-term moat. Anthropic, Google and OpenAI will eventually offer it. Deeper workflows, specialised use cases and excellent mobile experiences will drive differentiation. 10. Don't reinvent professional editing tools. Building non-linear timelines is incredibly hard. Agentic video tools should focus on creating great first cuts and making it easy to hand them off to existing professional editing tools. Overall, the next six months will be noisy! But video editing has never been winner-take-all. And I do NOT think that will change. Hope this helps.008721

hot take: well-funded, VC-backed startups are actually low signal in 2026 it’s basically the 2010s version of the corporate ladder: pick trending industry, raise, sell, repeat not dead but has been “consensus” for a decade; low signal4015992

easiest way to fight back against this sort of thing is for US labs to release the weights of the prior generation of models but they won't because they hate free market competition and want daddy government to protect their investors socialism for the venture capitalistsAndrew Curran @AndrewCurran_This is the type of thing that potentially gets new laws passed.4114799
