Ending the week on a high – a fantastic school visit to Reservoir East Primary School with the hardworking @gedkearney A very engaged and enthusiastic group of students, we spoke about the 125th anniversary of Federation, Parliament and our Australian National Flag 🇦🇺 👏👏

A massive Parliamentary Sitting Week done and dusted. It truly is an honour to be the 32nd Speaker of the House, I’ll never take a day for granted.

Ending the Sitting Week with more replica Maces – the Members for Lingiari, Fremantle and Parramatta are the new custodians of this important symbol of our democracy. These are a great prop to add to their toolkits for when they visit schools in their electorates. @ScrymgourMP

A massive Happy World Teachers’ Day to all the incredible teachers across Australia! 🍎📚 Teachers play such an important role in shaping the next generation, inspiring young minds and helping students reach their full potential.

Through the Parliament in Schools program and the National Flag Roadshow, I’ve also had the honour of visiting schools right across the country. It’s been wonderful to see that same dedication and care for students wherever I go.

To all our teachers, thank you for everything you do and the lasting difference you make in the lives of young Australians! ❤️

Ahead of Remembrance Day, it was a privilege to host @WoundedHeroesAu at Parliament House. Wounded Heroes does extraordinary work supporting veterans and their families through times of hardship.

As we approach Remembrance Day, we honour those who have served our nation and recommit ourselves to supporting the veterans and families who have given so much in that service. Lest we forget. 🌺

I was so honoured to deliver the 2026 Henry Parkes Oration on a subject that could not be more important: Trust in the People: The Role of Civics in a Healthy Democracy.   Over the past 4 years, I’ve visited hundreds of schools across Australia and met thousands of students

What gives me confidence about the future of our democracy is their curiosity, optimism and desire to be involved.   As we celebrate 125 years of Federation, we should remember that democracy is learned, practised and renewed.

Investing in civics education is investing in Australia’s future. Because a healthy democracy depends on informed, engaged and active citizens. Thank you to the Henry Parkes Foundation & @MoAD_Canberra for accepting my contribution to this prestigious civics initiative 🙏

It was a privilege to welcome Bruce & Denise Morcombe to Parliament House for their annual Day for Daniel.

Their tireless work through @DanielMorcombe has helped educate young Australians about personal safety and a lasting legacy in Daniel’s memory. @maryaldred @SophieScamps @AlisonByrnesMP

What an amazing day at the 4th annual Drina Folklore Festival! 🇷🇸🎶   It was wonderful to experience the richness of Serbian culture through the lively performances, music, dance and, of course, delicious food!

One of my favourite days of the year – the @Kmart_Australia @salvos Annual Wishing Tree Launch. This year we celebrate 39 years of this great initiative. I joined my Parliamentary colleagues to drop off some Christmas pressies to kick off the Christmas season.

A big thank you to all the organisers and performers for putting on such a fantastic celebration. It was a privilege to share in your culture and traditions.

Last year the Appeal delivered over 350,000 gifts to families in need. Helping thousands of Australians at Christmas. What a privilege it is to play a small part in that 🎁🎄 @maryaldred @zalisteggall @SenatorHume @AnneWebsterMP @AngusTaylorMP @ALeighMP @mattkeogh @TimWilsonMP

Popped down to the Inala Clinic’s Open Day at their new location on Wirraway Parade with Margie Nightingale MP 🩺   This is great news for our community, with a larger clinic delivering important radiology services and medical imaging, with a new MRI coming in 2027.

I look forward to the day I can say: I give the call to the Member for Indi. 🙏

Great to pop into Goodstart Sinnamon Park this morning for their Open Day.   Wonderful to see so many families coming along to have a look around and enjoy a fun morning of activities together😊

It was a privilege to welcome guests to Parliament House this morning for the 37th National Prayer Breakfast where we reflected on the enduring importance of hope, service and community.

This past week has been one of reflection as we try to comprehend the devastating incident involving our beloved colleague, Helen. Helen is a remarkably respected Member of Parliament who has always stood up for her community and treated everyone with kindness and respect.

At a time when trust, respect & understanding matter more than ever, it was valuable to gather with faith leaders, parliamentarians and community representatives from across Australia and the Pacific. Thank you to all those who contributed to a thoughtful and inspiring morning.

As I light this candle, alongside many other Australians, I’m keeping Helen in my thoughts. To Phil, her family, staff and everyone who cares for Helen, please know that you are in our thoughts.

Finishing off a busy weekend at the Jamboree Heights Swimming Club, celebrating 40 fantastic years🏊‍♂️🎉   Swimming is such an important life skill, and for 40 years this club has been building skills, friendships and a strong sense of community.

We are standing with you and holding hope for Helen during this incredibly difficult time. 🧡

Congratulations on an incredible milestone!

Great to catch up with so many locals who stopped by my mobile office at Orion shops with @charismullenmp this afternoon.   Thanks to everyone who came down for a chat! 👋
