Pleased to share the inaugural edition of Trans Himalaya (Vol. 1, Edition 1, September 2026), an independent, interdisciplinary research and policy journal published by the
@ForFnva Foundation for Non-violent Alternatives- an institute for peace studies, and edited by Prof.
@Sri_Kondapalli.
Anchored in the Himalayan-Tibetan continuum, the journal examines historical, political, economic, cultural, social and strategic developments in Tibet and Asia’s uplands, treating the region as a long-term variable with implications for water security, ecology, civilisational linkages and the wider Asian order.
As a member of the Governing Council, I am glad to have contributed an article to this first volume.
Ambassador Shyam Saran’s Foreword sets a measured tone: the Himalaya have long connected as much as they have divided, and contemporary questions of security, water, infrastructure and local communities now require a broader lens than border management alone. The issue brings together contributions on history and foundations, the strategic triangle of India–Tibet–PRC, regional perspectives, and practical policy considerations.
It is a welcome addition for anyone working on Tibet, the Himalaya, or India’s northern frontiers.
