🧬 Think of your genes like a family recipe—passed down from your parents with instructions that help shape how your body works. Over time, changes can occur in those instructions. Some may have little effect, while others can increase the risk of disease. NIH researchers are studying why additional genetic changes in some people born with a mutated gene called RUNX1 can increase their risk of developing blood cancer, while others with the mutation may never develop cancer. 🎥 Watch to learn more:

The cerebellum is a part of the brain primarily known to be involved in movement and coordination. A new study conducted by NIH Stadtman Investigator Dr. Mark Wagner and his lab shows it could also play a pivotal role in learning and retaining new skills. Their findings shed new light on the cerebellum—quite literally—and could help explain how the brain reuses what it already knows to learn new tasks without getting its wires crossed.
