Just a few hours ago, President Trump said in the Oval Office that I should be tried in court because I dared to talk about the corruption coming out of the White House. If I've learned one thing from this past year, it's that you have to push back. I'm not going to be intimidated out of standing up for the rule of law and the country that has given me everything.

I think in the last two weeks it's become very clear President Trump wants Putin to win this war, and he's taking steps to allow them to sell oil to fuel their war machine, to disrupt Starlink and to show the Ukrainians where his hand actually lies I think that's a huge strategic mistake.

There’s a clear playbook when it comes to myself and @SenMarkKelly, James Comey, or anyone else the President doesn’t like. He tries to intimidate and weaponize the government against them. We have to push back.

They're run by the state and our localities –- not the President. Last month, I sought assurances from our nation's top military and civilian leaders at the Pentagon that troops will not be used to interfere in our midterm elections—and that any order to do so would be illegal. The law is clear: our military has no business interfering in our elections, policing polling places, or handling ballots or voting machines. Now, @SenMarkKelly and I are seeking answers about the Pentagon's vaguely defined National Guard "reaction forces," created to respond to "civil disturbances." We want to make absolutely sure these forces will not be used to interfere with our elections in any way.

What is President Trump’s playbook on elections?

Friendly reminder: agriculture is the number 2 industry in Michigan, after manufacturing. And we’re the number 1 most diverse agricultural state in the country (meaning lots of different kinds of farms, not just row crops) with regular access to water!

I recently had the opportunity to speak with @oaklandu students in an academic class focused on September 11, and share my firsthand experience of being in New York that day. 25 years later, it’s more important than ever that we share these stories with young people who were born after 2001. Not just the tragedy and heroism that we saw on that day, but the way the country came together in the weeks that followed. It’s something that we’re missing today, but that I’m grateful I know we’re capable of.

Michigan has lost about 12,000 manufacturing jobs in the year and a half since the president has taken office.

This shouldn’t be complicated. If you break the law or abuse taxpayer dollars, you should be held accountable.

Thank you to all the students who gave me the grand tour of @LawrenceTechU architecture and engineering programs. They’ve got everything here from concrete canoes to a chamber where they test the impact of extreme weather conditions on bridges. The students I spoke to are passionate about their projects, and are learning skills that will directly translate into the workforce. Our toughest problems are going to need bold solutions, and I have no doubt these students will be able to deliver.

This is not the first time this president has tried to weaponize the justice system against me. At his direction, earlier this year, the Department of Justice took me to a D.C. grand jury to have me criminally indicted for sedition. If President Trump had his way, I'd be in prison. Thankfully, an anonymous group of Americans, whom I will never meet, voted unanimously that all I was doing was exercising basic free speech. So I know from experience, when it comes to weaponizing the government, the president says what he means, and he means what he says.

I had a great time visiting Eliza Howell Park with Sidewalk Detroit and learning more about the history of this 250-acre park, the community’s efforts to protect it, and the importance of preserving Detroit’s green spaces. From restoring natural areas to reimagining how parks serve their neighborhoods, Sidewalk Detroit is working to advance spatial equity and change the narrative around Brightmoor.

When you say something President Trump and his allies don't like, they run a play to intimidate you and to get you to shut up. It's not going to work. We can't let it.

Follow the law, and we don't have a problem.

President Trump and Elon Musk have slowed down the critical Starlink satellite connection so that Ukrainians are more vulnerable to Russian attacks-- even further indication that Trump wants Putin to win this war. @SenMarkKelly @SenThomTillis and I are demanding the Pentagon to restore Starshield capabilities so Ukraine has what it needs to defend itself. Not doing so is costing innocent Ukrainian lives.

As tensions continue to rise in the Middle East, it’s important that Michiganders currently in the region or planning to travel there exercise caution. I wanted to give an update on safety recommendations the State Department has shared. On October 21st, the State Department ordered some diplomats and family members to depart several U.S. embassies and consulates across the Middle East. Whether it is creating manufacturing jobs, bringing in federal investments in housing and infrastructure, or ensuring we keep missions to protect our homeland in Battle Creek at the Hart-Dole-Inouye Federal Center, when I met with all the community leaders in Battle Creek, everyone believed in working together for this community. Everyone was working off the same sheet of music and everyone wants to make this a completely thriving, self-sustaining place that can weather ups and downs. I look forward to continuing to work with local leaders to help whenever and wherever I can.

Fear is the point. Intimidation is the point. And if the President can try to do this to me, he can do it to anyone.

A beautiful fall day is the perfect time to explore one of our community’s incredible resources! I recently visited the Detroit Institute of Arts for a tour of the Reimagine African American Art gallery, a look at the Georgia O’Keeffe exhibit, and a chance to take in more of what this amazing museum has to offer. The @DIADetroit is a wonderful place to learn, explore, and experience something new. You don’t have to spend an entire day to enjoy it—even a short visit can be inspiring! With exhibits that change throughout the year, there’s always a reason to come back.

It is our responsibility to ensure that Michigan’s firefighters and front-line responders are protected. I join my colleague, @SenGaryPeters, in welcoming much needed federal support for fire departments across the state, and specifically for Upper Peninsula and Northern Michigan firefighters. We’ve worked in a bipartisan way to secure this essential grant funding. And now, these dollars will be used to address staffing needs, enhance safety training, and provide much-needed equipment for the brave folks who put their lives on the line every day to keep Michiganders safe.
