RT @FrannieBlock: "When we react and respond to something, we have to ask ourselves: Is our reaction worse than the initial action we were reacting to?”
My new story in @TheFP on the ordinary victims of cancellation, and how their lives will never be the same.
RT @neerajadeshp: One of the things that got me about the @DMSabatini story was the allegation that his lab promoted “bro culture.” Not only is being a bro not a crime (no matter what some might have you think) but labs, especially ones that operate at such a high level, rely on people being motivated, being inspired, and yes, having fun. I loved Sabatini’s response to my question in my interview with him for @PirateWires, on how American science has become corporate and sterile:

As I exited my video call with @DMSabatini, whom I interviewed for @PirateWires via @IWF, all I could think was: here is a scientist who has made some of the biggest breakthroughs of our age—a man who is exceptional, definitionally abnormal in the best sense of the word; here he is, begging for “normal.” The people who put him in such a position—including Kristin Knouse, his ex who was found by a jury to have defamed him by falsely calling him a “rapist”—remain employed by the Whitehead Institute. Full piece in the replies.

And drop your burning questions below :)
RT @brianstelter: There's been so much concern and speculation about this era of @60Minutes so I just have to say, the newsmag was outstanding last night. First, @GiannaToboni on Trump's third-country deportation program. (Watch till the end.) Then, @BillWhitakerCBS on the case of election denier Tina Peters. Finally, @HollyMAWilliams in Australia on the country's under-16 social media ban...
RT @CBSMornings: For @cbseveningnews anchor @tonydokoupil, “it really always comes back to the question,” which inspired his new podcast, “Great Question with Tony Dokoupil.”
Tony teases his first episode, featuring a conversation with Malcolm Gladwell, available today at 5 p.m. ET.
RT @DMSabatini: Will never forget when @SnoozyWeiss first contacted me to ask if I could speak to her about happened. Her investigation was the first truly independent look at what actually happened.

When I first met David, a world-class molecular biologist whose name was being floated for the Nobel Prize, he was collecting unemployment. As of last week, he's been cleared by of wrongdoing and awarded $6,000,000 in damages.
Read my story about him:

The reputational destruction of Prof. David Sabatini was one of the worst excesses of the Great Awokening / Me-Too era. @BillAckman acted bravely in offering him support when the entire academic establishment cancelled him. Without his efforts, the complete absence of due process in his treatment by @MIT might never have come to light. The question I am left with: Will those whose misconduct has finally been exposed pay anything like the price they imposed on Sabatini? Will they be fired? Will their reputations be destroyed? They deserve it. He did not.

Justice is patient. Years after the headlines and the pile-on almost ended @DMSabatini’s career, long after the protesters forgot his name, a jury has spoken: every harassment claim against him rejected, and $6 million owed to him for defamation.
Total vindication.

RT @jpodhoretz: More reason @thefp is the new publication of the decade-- @Douthat60 's column today, his second, is spectacular and gives off the feeling that there's been an unshackling for Ross in departing the Times, just as Bari unshackled herself six years ago.
