RT @FastCompany: How to solve urgent problems and build solutions that scale responsibly in the next decade @SolveMIT #FCImpactCouncil

RT @AoT_WE: A projected $100 billion a year in new AI philanthropy is on the way, and @SolveMIT's Hala Hanna thinks counting on it to fix AI's blind spots is a mistake. The Chronicle of Philanthropy reports the OpenAI and Anthropic founders could soon be giving away sums on that scale, and the instinct is relief, because the money AI keeps skipping is staggering: of the roughly $290 billion in AI venture capital raised since 2019, less than 1% went to social impact. But Hala Hanna's argument cuts past the funding gap. Companies respond to incentives, she says, so the real question was never whether big tech will serve the public out of the goodness of their non-existing heart, it's under what conditions they ever will, and right now that calculus is limited to valuations and stock prices, fully disassociated from the real life of actual people. Her deeper worry is the story underneath it, the danger of a single narrative about who gets to be an innovator and what counts as progress. If a handful of labs optimizing for valuation set AI's entire direction, a philanthropy wave just softens the edges of a system nobody else was invited to design. So Solve isn't waiting for that conscience to kick in. It's building the alternative, public-interest AI funded and governed differently, on the bet that you change the outcome by changing who gets to build, not by hoping the incentives bend. Which is the better bet for actually redirecting AI: building parallel public-interest models, or forcing the incentives to change through regulation? More in the first comment. #AI #AIGovernance #PublicInterestAI

RT @learning_rocket: Our Co-founder, Namya Mahajan, joins Alexander Dale on "The Solve Effect Podcast" as the third guest in @SolveMIT special 10 Years, 10 Solvers series - celebrating a decade of innovators who embody the spirit of Solve through resilience, impact, and bold ideas. In this candid conversation, Namya takes listeners behind the scenes of Rocket Learning's journey - from our earliest days of building for parents and caregivers to creating solutions that Anganwadi educators embraced because they found them genuinely useful. She shares the thinking behind our model, the importance of designing for the people who show up every day, what it means to create real "user delight," and how listening closely to communities has shaped our work. Whether you're interested in education, technology for social good, entrepreneurship, or systems change, this conversation offers an honest look at what it takes to build solutions that people adopt because they make a difference. 🎧Tune in to hear the full conversation available on the links given - Spotify: Apple Podcasts: Amazon Music: #RocketLearning #MITSolve #ECCE #Innovation #EducationForAll #Podcast

RT @AoT_WE: Hundreds of billions of dollars are flowing into AI investment, yet our guest, Hala Hanna, Executive Director of @SolveMIT, points out that less than 1% of AI venture funding is going to social impact. If AI is so powerful, why is so little of that power being directed toward the people and the problems that need it the most? Can AI really be used for the public good, or is the promise of AI for good just Silicon Valley lip service? We're talking AI, social impact, and the economics of doing good this week on AoT with hosts Autria Godfrey, @stephenjhorn, and @Laila_Rizvi.
